Hi, I have a kdl52v5100 and I cannot find anywhere on-line to give me an idea about how much it will cost to get a new panel. The screen had a very heavy object thrown at it. The panel has a hole in it and the LC has blacked out most of the screen. It however still turns on and everything else works. I just need to know if its worth trying to fix or should I scrap it for parts.

Highly suggest you not try this yourself. Plasma and LCD displays are built in a complicated matter, and are very sensitive. If the screen is $1000, it might be better to buy a new set. However, if you don't I would suggest you pay somone to check it out. Just because you order a new screen from sony...doesn't mean that your set is repairable, they'll be able to at least make that judgement. look aruond, get different opinions. There's plenty of places out there that will give you free quotes and will COME OUT to your home to do so. Check some more places, and I'm sure you'll save some $$$
