I had the same problem. Go into your current wireless connection and delete the history. One you do that you should be able to search for an access point and connect.

Wireless will connect but not surf internet

Sounds like your router is connected to the modem, but the modem is not connected to your ISP. Is this a new connection or a sudden problem? Unplug power to modem and router. Plug in modem first, then router. Do you need password for ISP? If connected, recommend downloading Netgear Genie for your WNDR3400.

I have a netgear wndr3400. I have 2 laptops, 1 can connect but the other can't. It says it is connected but to the wireless router but can't connect to the internet. Why can't it connect?

The router has probably provided too many IP address and assigned one out of your range.
  1. Click start button
  2. Type cmd, right click and run as administrator
  3. Type the words IPCONFIG /RELEASE
  4. Let it run until you are able to type again and type IPCONFIG /RENEW
  5. Then when it has renewed flush your DNS cache by typing IPCONFIG /FLUSHDNS
If that doesn't work, I would log into the router. www.routerologin.net and under settings release your IP address or cycle your modem and then your router.

The Host (wired) computer is running windows 7. The wireless computers, using Vista, cannot access host.

The NetGear WNDR3400 N600 Wireless Dual takes security very serius and therefore u should read the manual very carefully, giving attention to the pages about the different forms of connections to the router with the different forms of security.
U can access the router as it is described in the amnual, or if not U have to reset and re-initialize all connections with evtually new security settings.
U know, even a router is only a simple com-device, which sometimes hangs and needs to be re-setted.

Good luck

I want to know if the WN111 will be compatible to my new WNDR3400 router

Well, I know this may be solved by now (Hope so anyway, right???) but YES IT DOES !! I just set up our new WNDR3400 this evening and my son has 240 Mbps through a Netgear WN111 out in the garage (approx. 75 ft. away...)
