Intermittant loss of power

Hi I have a 2000 wrangler 2.5 Petrol low mileage has always worked
great recently it has started to either try and cut out with complete
loss of power or die completely. Normally it will start straight up
again and carry on but sometimes can take 10 mins to get going. The
engine check light is not coming on and no faults are being logged in
the computer. I have drained and cleaned the fuel tank and replaced
the pump and strainers. I have noticed that when its playing up the
fuel gauge reads about quater of a tank high. Any Ideas appreciated.

we have similar issues with our 99 wrangler. it seems to loose more power going up hills and has begun sputtering when we first start it. we changed the caty converter, plugs, air filter but wonder if it might be either the coil or the fuel pump. some told us it might be the O2 sensor.

Loss of power, hesitation, bad gas mileage

Clean the MAF sensor. Could also need a tune up, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter. Could also have a stopped up catalic converter that needs to be replaced.

I am hoping that some of you jeep brainiacs out there can help with a suggestion of the problem with my 1992 Jeep Wrangler 4.0 hi-output. Symptoms: backfire from time to time....cuts off when driving, cuts...

i would recommend you connect a fuel pressure gauge to the engine fuel rail port and watch the fuel pressure as you drive it note fuel pressure should be between 31 and 39 psi and stay there while vehicle is being driven. if it drops check the wiring to the pump in many cases the pump connector is burned and losses connnection. also try watching the egr see if its diaphragm keeps surging try disconnecting the vacuum hose to it see it any change is noticed, common problem 4.0 engines of that year EGR's cost about 90 dollars but help stalling and emissions problems greatly.

My vehicle lost power at highway speed and cut out. The engine still turns over freely and all electrical mechanisms appear to be working properly. I have surmised the engine is not getting fuel. The fuel...

Hello Mg.

Basic diagnostics first. Check for spark and fuel pressure.
Then compression test.
I am suspect the timing belt may have broken or skipped some teeth from your description of failure.
If the belt has broken you will have no spark, no injector pulse and low compression.
If the belt has skipped you may still have spark and injector pulse but compression will remain low or none.
This engine I believe is a non-interference engine so if the belt breaks it should not damage internal parts.
If you need more assistance on this leave them in a comment to me.

As a seasoned DIY, it sems you have a good understanding of this problem. What grade petrol r u using? I assume u have eliminated fuel pressure and filters as well. Try checking the injectors if they r working fine. Check them while cold and also after the engine has warmed up. Good luck pal.

The speed'o meter is showing a "tool" sign

the "tool " is refering to service work. Could be fuel related but not really the fuel filter. do you have plenty of miles between services. otherwise may be showing you that your service is due. and mileage will suffer. I am assuming you have no loss of power? No power loss no fuel filter problem. check when the next service should be done and check your air filter. another big thing that trips sensors and leads to poor mileage.

Coil light and loss of power

The battery grounding ******** vw's periodically go bad and need replacement, I would suspect this to be the case.
It will corrode
in its casing, resulting in faulty electrical systems.
