How to find a IP address for my emachines laptop

go to start -- run and type in CMD
hit enter to open a black command prompt window

type in "ipconfig" without the quotes and hit enter. This will give you your IP address.

If you need the IP address from your provider that you are using out on the public internet, just go to http://whatismyipaddress.com/ and it will tell you what your external public IP address is.

It seems that the network connections always responds "server not found" even if internet is connected...its frustrating....

Do you have a router in between your PC and internet connection (i.e. broadband, DSL, dial-up etc)? If so, I would bet you have a configuration problem inside the router. It probably has something to do with setting you internet gateway IP address, DNS addresses, or other IP settings (Static or DHCP). Hope this helps.

I did not request, "OpenDNS" services that block

to remove the OpenDNS service all you need to do is change your DNS server addresses in your Network Settings which youll find it under the Control Panel in Windows. choose your network connection and go into the Properties and find TCP/IP properties.
Open DNS uses IP addresses such as 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220
if you see those in the IP settings, remove them. you can select for the configuration to set the DNS servers automatically. if your system doesnt let you view webpages when set to automatic. you can use a different set of IP addresses for DNS. i always recommend using Google's DNS servers because they are somewhat speedier and simple to remember ( 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4)

  5. If the computer is holding a current IP address, type 'ipconfig /release' to let go of the address.

---------------------------------Vista or higher----------------------------------------------
1) Go to Start and click Run.
2) Run window will appear. Type cmd and click OK.
3) Command prompt

.

4) Type ipconfig /release to release the IP address.
5) Finally type ipconfig /renew to get new IP address.

then if this dont wont restart the computer.
if its still not working you will need a local tech to see if the ip address is hardcoded into the NIC

What is the ip address for it's network/ethernet card?

The external ip address (the one assigned by your isp) can be found at: http://whatismyip.com/

The internal ip address (differentiates the computers on your network) can be found by running the command prompt (start --> run--> cmd or start--> all programs --> accessories --> command prompt) and then typing int eh following command: "ipconfig" (without quotes). It will be the set of numbers in the form 192.168.something.something

Good luck, let me know if you have any questions

Hi There,

I'm assuming that your router is connected by a network cable;

Go to your network connections, right-click on the connection for your router, select 'status', click the 'support' tab. Make a note of the 'Default Gateway' IP address.
Start your internet browser, in the address bar type the IP address. You should then arrive at your router's control panel.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

MC.

just right click on your local connection on the desktop by the clock and click on "repair". this should clear the cache and renew the IP addy and DNS for yur connection. OR

Follow these steps to quickly release and/or renew the Internet Protocol (IP) address of a computer running Windows XP, Windows 2000, or Windows NT. Here's How:
  1. Click the Start menu button on the Windows taskbar.
  2. Click Run... on this menu.
  3. If the computer is holding a current IP address, type 'cmd' (without the quotes) in the text box that appears. A command prompt window appears on the screen.
  4. Type 'ipconfig' (without the quotes) to view the status of the computer's IP address(es).
  5. If the computer is holding a current IP address, type 'ipconfig /release' to let go of the address.
  6. Type 'ipconfig /renew' to obtain a new IP address (whether or not the computer is holding a current address).
Tips:
  1. If it is not necessary to view the current IP addresses on a computer, simply type 'ipconfig /release' or 'ipconfig /renew' (without the quotes) in the text box that appears in Step 3.

  2. To bring a computer back onto the network after moving it to a different location, or experiencing an unexpected outage, first release, then renew the IP address. Computers on DHCP networks often (but not always) re-establish network connectivity automatically
