What make and model freezer?

23 degrees definitely no good. Your getting some refrigeration though so compressor probably OK. Could not be seized. This may not be a hermetic system .you may have lost some refrigerant.But sounds more like your not defrosting .Have freezer guy check for manual defrost switch or defrost timer .

L1 goes to 1-2 on Clock, L2 or Neutral to N on Clock, Defrost heater to 3 on Clock, Defrost Limit/Fan Delay to X on clock

they can be defrosted by using a blow dryer on the evaporator coil.or most common way is to remove all the product in the freezer and turn the unit off and leave the door open. most units have a defrost heater and they self defrost but if you are building up frost then you may need to check the continuity on the heating element and replace if need to. or check and make sure the defrost timer is working properly

This freezer has a manual defrost control on it, comes this way. Also has defrost drain hose in the front with a wrap around evaporator and condenser coil. A unit should only defrost for about 45 minutes to remove any build up, 4 days indicates it is stuck in defrost. It doesn't show the cross over temp to F from C on my chart at 0.2 degrees. You should have a defrost control that you are able to put into defrost your self. Look around the back or anywhere there may be a removable panel or it should show you where to put this box into defrost since it is manual and not automatic.Give it a turn in the direction and watch to see what happens. It may go into defrost again and come back out on its own and freeze properly. If it continues to stay in defrost, you will need to replace this timer. Take all of the info and pick one up at a appliance parts house that will stock it. Draw you a diagram so you dont forget how you removed it and that will make it much easier to install. two reds and green are the auto max freeze on indecators the reds go off one at a time when unit drops to safe temp mode.also means unit needs defrosting manually when too much ice is present.

just turn stat all the way up, or unplug from wall.
less there is a manual defrost button.

Most likely you have lost your refrigerant in a leak, since the compressor is running but not cooling.

You need to unplug and get serviced or your compressor will overheat and fail which will be much more expensive.

I just turned it off and pulled out the super defrost button. I used towels not the drainage plug since I couldn't find a pan of any sort.

Also...very funny comment about my husband taking care of it!
