Hi,

For Windows to recognize your sound card, you must find and install a compatible driver for your sound card. Most sound cards require driver software to work properly. Be sure that you have installed any software discs that came with the device. If you don't have a disc or the software on the disc does not solve the problem, follow these steps:

  1. Check if a driver for your sound card is available through Windows Update. For more information, see Install Windows updates.

  2. If Windows Update does not find a driver for your sound card, visit the website of the sound card manufacturer to check if a driver is available. If one is available, download it. If not, contact the manufacturer.

  3. Open Device Manager by clicking the Start button my computer does not accept - 4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33.png, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking Device Manager.? If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

  4. In Device Manager, look for a sound card under Sound, video and game controllers and confirm that Windows does not recognize your card.

  5. Close Device Manager.

  6. Open Control Panel by clicking the Start button 4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33.png, and then clicking Control Panel.

  7. In the Search box in Control Panel, type add hardware.

  8. Click Install drivers for older devices with Add Hardware wizamy computer does not accept - 18abb370-ac1e-4b6b-b663-e028a75bf05b.pnges/18abb370-ac1e-4b6b-b663-e028a75bf05b.png" alt="18abb370-ac1e-4b6b-b663-e028a75bf05b.png" class="h_mi" /> If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation

I would like to connect my computer to my panasonic sa-ht800v unit and hear the sound thru the surround sound speakers

In general, your PC's sound card (and its controlling software) will determine what it can connect to.

Even the most basic PC would have stereo analog output via the typical green 1/8" connector or a headphone jack that easily adapts to RCA pair for analog audio connection. Any Line Level input EXCEPT PHONO would accept the PC's output. The output level would be controlled by the sound card software and settings.

The SA-HT800's single LINE Input would accept the Green stereo audio or speaker output from a standard PC, once adapted. Select VCR.

Find your PC's Sound Controls and enable the applicable input. make sure the volumes of both Inputs and Outputs are turned up.

Though not applicable to theGemini, more-advanced sound cards and audio hardware would have similar adaptable 5.1 or 7.1 (paired) analog outputs and / or digital audio outputs that conform to the s/pdif or Dolby Digital standards.

Can u hook it to a computer for sound

In general, your PC's sound card (and its controlling software) will determine what it can connect to.

Even the most basic PC would have stereo analog output via the typical green 1/8" connector or a headphone jack that easily adapts to RCA pair for REAL audio connection. Any Line Level input EXCEPT PHONO would accept the PC's output. The output level would be controlled by the sound card software and settings.

More-advanced sound cards would have similar adaptable 5.1 or 7.1 (paired) analog outputs and / or digital audio outputs that conform to the s/pdif or Dolby Digital standards.

A digital-capable receiver would accept 44.1 kHz for normal CD or DTS sources. Some diddling with the output sampling frequency might allow digital multichannel audio to be decoded by the receiver.

Try to get the keyboard to play through out my speackers

Since this has no audio output it will depend upon your computer to generate the sound using the audio system in the computer. You will need the driver software for the M-Audio to talk to the sound hardware in your computer and configure that to accept the MIDI inout from the M-Audio.
You will need to OPEN the volume and mixer controls for your sound board, unmute it, and enable the SYNTH channel and select "general MIDI".
As a test, download VanBascoe's Karaoke thing and play MIDI files to make sure your synth software is working. Then assign the MIDI source to teh USB input from the M-Audio.
