if you have still the problem, I got the solution from Kef USA. It is somewhat involved in taking the unit apart and replacing a resistor and capacitor. With the instructions supplied any electronic techician or TV repair man can do it in less then 1 hour. email me and I forward the instruction in PDF: [email protected] . Replace the first X with a and last X with m in my email address.

SOURCE: Scratching and static noise when turned on

Verry common problem with these systems. It is one of the two audio output IC's for the sub. It is best tho to replace them both. Not easy to get to tho. But not
costly for replacements. On the power board there is 4 IC's on one side and 3 1small and 2the same as the other's. Those 2,are the output IC's for the Sub.
The part number for then is TDA7293. The cost about
$6-10 each. Can find on ebay.REPLACE BOTH!!! They sell a kit of 6 for around $25.Sometimes I replace all 6.

Kef kit 120. Lights on dvd unit come on for about 5seconds then go off and leaves just the power light on. If I press the power button afterwards nothing happens and the lcd display doesn't come on.

Based on the information provided, it seems that there may be an issue with the DVD unit of your Kef kit 120. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try: Check the power source: Make sure that the Kef kit 120 is properly plugged into a working power outlet. If it is, try plugging another device into the same outlet to ensure that the outlet is working properly. Check the cables: Make sure that all cables are properly connected to the Kef kit 120 and that there are no loose connections. Also, check the cables for any damage or signs of wear and tear. Reset the Kef kit 120: Try resetting the Kef kit 120 by unplugging it from the power source for a few minutes and then plugging it back in. This can sometimes help to resolve issues with electronic devices. Contact Kef customer support: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it may be a more serious problem with the DVD unit itself. In this case, you may need to contact Kef customer support for further assistance or to arrange for a repair or replacement.

I have a KEF KHT 2005.2 Subwoofer that does not produce sound any more, it makes a slight pop sound when i switch it on and thats it, no further sound. The system is about 5 years old but has not had a lot...

The KEF-Subwoofer range (from the PSW1000 up to PSW 3000?) have some built-in flaws in the electronic design.

I just fixed my PSW2000 working along the repairing instructions from:

http://lug.demon.co.uk/kefrepair/

Works! Costs have been about 35,- Euro for spare parts and some (too many) hours of work. If you are used to electronics and soldering you may make it in 2 hours.

Nice player. I'm not lucky enough to own one myself, but I found this info which might be worth a try:

Kef Kit 100 & Kef Kit 200 Instant DVD Theatre handset hacks 1. Press & hold the "Skip Back" button, "Play" button & "Volume Up" button on the main unit.
2. After a few seconds the front display should display "PAL RESET"
3. Release the "keys.
4. Power off your unit at the mains.
5. After 20 seconds, power on your DVD player, thats it!

Subwoofer clicking noise

Hi I am afraid it sounds like exactly the same problem I had, Namely the PSU(power suplly unit) is failing, This is a common fault (by reading loads of forums) I contacted KEF today about mine and they say the probably wont be able to source any more spares(due to so many having thuis problem no doubt) So I would suggest contacting the people you bought it from,Under the consumer protection act you should expect an electrical item to "Last a reasonable amount of time" .Mine is 3 years old and I do not consider this to be a long period so kick up and you should be entitled to a repair or at worst a partial refund.Look here basically the same Sub.
