Dear Chrissy600

Right then, the location for your manual is as follows.

http://www.polaroid.com/service/userguides/photographic/one600jobpro_ug.pdf

Here is where you find the user manual and the guide on how to care for your model of camera.

You will need to get hold of a version of adobe acrobat reader, in order to read the .PDF file format. You can get this from either

http://www.adobe.com
http://www.google.com

if you go to google, then you might be better off typing the words "adobe reader free download" or even adobe acrobat free download. Even if you get the trial version, you can getthis and then just swan the programme off of your system when you are done (unless you really need this on your system).

Anyway, I hope that this is the fixya for you and I hope to hear from you soon to let me know how this information was for you.

Until then, best regards

Yours sincerely

Oz

I have a new polaroid camera and new film however when I have loaded the film, the number of shots is not shown and the top piece of paper does not come out. The film is in date as it was just delivered to...

Polaroid has not manufactured film for 600 cameras in about 5 years now. The only current source is The Impossible Project, which gives 8 shots per pack, black and white images only, and they tend to fade rather quickly. You can find and order online by searching the name. The Polaroid versions available are no longer really usable because the batteries are drained, film has expired and chempaks have oxidized.

It'd be highly unlikely to get in-date Polaroid film, since the last they made was in 2006, expiring in 2009. It's likely you got some that's been repackaged by an unreputable dealer and it's got an expired battery pack. Or, you've gotten something completely uncompatable with a 600 camera. If your film says anything except 600 on the pack, it's not the same thing - ie 669, 667, 668, etc.

Where can I buy a film pack and paper??????????????????????

Polaroid manufactured their last run of film for that camera this summer,so go on the WEB and search Polaroid 600 film (or ask a a local camera store). If you really like this camera, you might buy some extra, nut you already know about the battery, so don't buy more than you will use before the expiration date. When the film is gone, the camera will be useless, unless someone like Fuji, who makes the film for the camera in Japan, decides to keep making it.

Shooting out film

Unfortunately you have a broken camera and it's not really fixable. There are plenty of free/cheap examples on FreeCycle and in thrift/charity shops but as you've discovered to your cost there's only one rather expensive way to find out whether they work...

I've just bought a Polaroid 600 camera off ebay and used the intructions on the Polaroid site to load the film. It said that once loaded and after the film door has been shut it would eject the film cover...

If the camera is showing no signs of life at all then you probably have an old stock photo pack loaded into it. These have the camera battery built in to them and like all batteries have a finite shelf life.

If you have a voltmeter then remove the photo pack and measure the voltage on the electrical contact points on the underside, if it's below a steady 6v then the battery is dead. If not the camera is dead and you can pick replacements up for less than the cost of a photo pack from thrift/charity shops and there's plenty of free ones available on Yahoo FreeCycle
