My transcend 500GB external hard disc suddenly not visible on my computer, though its detected.

You can try to plug the hard drive to other computer,and check whethter it can identify the hard drive, if work, you can recover data from hard drive by Hard Drive Data Recovery

Run software diagnostics on the drive it's likely failing. Check if it is under warranty.

Perhaps you should download updated software of your external hard drive. If still not working maybe your external hard drive is not supported by your OS or isn't compatible with your OS.

Try to refresh the USB ports.

1. Right-click My Computer icon on the desktop, and then select Properties.
2. Click the Hardware tab.
3. Click the Device Manager button.
4. Click the plus (+) sign to the left of Universal Serial Bus controllers.
5. Right-click the device listed under Universal Serial Bus controller and select Uninstall.
6. Click OK to confirm the removal of the device.

Please note, repeat Steps 5 and 6 until all the devices under Universal Serial Bus Controller are removed.

7. Shut down the computer.

CAUTION: Ensure that the Shut Down option is selected, instead of the Restart option.

8. Wait for 5 seconds and then restart the computer. When the computer restarts, a "Windows has detected new or added hardware" message window will open.

The above steps will refresh the USB ports.

Now connect the USB devices like mouse, video camera, your external usb hard disk...usb hubs...whatever you like and the drivers should install automatically.

Tip: It is always recommended to connect the main usb devices at the rear end usb port, as they require more power to initiate.

Need to refresh to the drivers uninstall and restart the computer.

Is this the error message?

Click on start icon and type device manager and Follow the picture to uninstall the drivers.

Here is the Procedure for Connecting External Drives to Computer.Several brands of computer does not recognise external drives when connected to USB expansion slots,and Slots of front panel,So connect your Ext HDD to back side onboard Slots.Because there is a lack off USB power surge voltage to detect a large capacity exteral drives.Some time it is does not recognise by many computers,when USB power surge voltage is low.
