My car keeps getting almost to the red in the temp gauge and the thermostat was already replaced I dont know what else to do

Yes it is true that to drive the car with the temp gauge in the red can be dangerous. The motor will seize causing uncontrollable slide /skid at the worst possible time. It is also a total waste of money as you will be up for replacement motor . Have the problem checked out if it is not already too late.

The short answer is yes.. it will never get to proper operating temp.. but for a forty minute drive.. it won't hurt a thing.

I assume you have completely removed the thermostat.

A faulty thermostat.. if stuck open.. same thing.. you can drive it.. Howvever if stuck closed.. you could drive it until it started to get hot.. then pull over.. wait until it cooled off.. go again.. on one that is stuck closed it all depends on outside temp.. and how fast you are driving.. (how much air is flowling across the radiator).

Keep an eye on the temp gauge or indicator lamp.. and get that thing replaced..!

I would look for debris around the thermostat or maybe flush and fill the coolant system to try to make it work more efficiently.

There are two possiblities that come to mind. Low coolant level with a very big air bubble may not permit proper cooling (too much air in the cooling system so add more liquid) or the second thing could be that the thermostat is not the proper rating for your gauge to remain below the middle level. You should try replacing the thermostat with a 180 degree thermostat (yes again and make sure orientation of the thermostat is correct... not upside down) and if the NEW thermostat is "good" it will stay near the middle regardless of whether the AC is on or not. You should also carefully check for coolant leaks or a reservoir tank crack, a loose fitting radiator cap with a worn o-ring or anything that would keep the system from being pressurized since pressure and glycol are what prevents the water from boiling in the cooling system.

Perhaps your gauge is faulty. Is your coolant filled up? You may also have a vapour lock causing the problem. Also you may have to change your thermostat. It may be sticking. Good luck!

I'm not certain if this engine has coolant bleeder valves, but if it does, make sure there aren't any pockets, particularly around the sending unit. Something is fooling the computer into thinking that things are really, really hot.

have you replaced the sending unit for the gauge? its located usually in the intake manifold somewhere, or on one of the cylinder heads.

If thats not the problem, you may have a wire grounding out behind the dash.

my best advice is to try an aftermarket monitoring gauge with fresh wiring to the sending unit or sensor to check for this problem... hope this helps!
