I was sent a large collection of family photos from a cousin, on a CD. I put it in the drive and the computer does nothing. After about a minute the computer kicks it back out. My brother tried it on his Apple computer and was able to download the pictures. My cousin then tried it out on two different computers he had and it worked on both Dell computers, one with Windows XP and one with Vista. I have a computer with Windows XP. It's a custom computer from Computer Renaissance called Nobilis, bought in 2002. It has 256 MG memory and 40 GB hard drive. Is my computer just malfunctioning? Is there any way to download these pictures manually? Thanks

Another possible way of transferring the family photos is to have your brother put the photos onto a usb and then plug it into yours and just drag and drop the pictures onto your computer

Put the disc into your disc drive and then go into my computer. Click on the drive and see if it will read the disc. You might need to install Windows Picture and Fax Viewer to see them. Try the Microsoft website for it.

While trying to put photos on cd-r it said that cd-r was not formatted. How do I format, so that I can put photos on?

Depends which operating system you use. The following is for XP so you might have to find the options for any other system. Try going to MY Computer and click the drive with the blank disc in. Then click file and see if format appears.

Cannot get it onto DVD

Yes, use DVD+R. Make sure that you choose the correct options: After clicking on "Produce" and then "Burn to disc", take a look at the window that appears. One of the choices: you can either burn to hard drive or to the writer drive. Chose your writer drive and continue. Also, SlideShow Expressions can develop problems when a project is too big or when the photos are too large. What typically happens, is that the burning process stops at step 5 (the actual burning) and does'nt want to continue. If this is the case, experiment with photo size. I used Microsoft Office Picture Manager to resize photos. Resizing doesn't necessarily reduce the quality of the photos. There is really no visual difference between my original photos and those that feature in my slideshows. In my case I had to resize to under 500 KB, but then, my project was extremely large: 466 photos; maybe you don't have to go so low. Experiment with sizes. Don't give up; it's a really great product.

Can i load pictures from my sd card without using a usb thing? is there any other way?

The only other way is to transfer the photos from your SD card to a CD or DVD and then you can use that CD or DVD to transfer the pictures to any computer you want. Some computers have an SD slot in the front, so you don't need a USB drive in that case. You can also go to a photo store or even a kiosk photo machine that you put your SD card in and it will develop the photos and you can get a CD sent to you from Kodak or whoever owns the machine. USB drives can be bought for $10 or less now, so maybe the easiest thing would be to get one.

I have all my photos on cd's. One day I went to put a cd into the drive of my desktop and nothing happened. When I went into my computer and clicked on the drive...it said to insert a cd....so I did...and...

There is a chance it may be the drive itself. More than likely when burning a cd there's a chance that only other cd burners can read it. Try it in a drive with burning capabilities.

Disc Error

the c:13:01 is the error code. I was researching this same thing on my camera. It 'magically' fixes itself after anywhere from 1 minute (turn off, count to 20 and turn back on)to 1 month later. This time, I lost photo-ops with my kids and their cousins. Apparently, this is a loose connector - see link- and you can fix it by 1) smacking your camera around a little (no joke, this knocks the connector back, for a little while or 2) sending it to Sony for repair (about $350) or 3) follow this guy's suggestions and fix yourself. I haven't lost any actual photos, except the first time when this happened. Since then, I've put the CD in the computer and I've been able to pull off the pics. Can't use the CD again though, even if it's not full. The camera must mark the CD somehow to avoid overlaying photos(?). Anyway, here's the link and good luck :) http://www.pechorin.com/m/2003/07/12/SONY_C1301_ERROR-202719-43.html
