if it happens with one single song it's because the file type is not formatted, you'll need to convert it (try mp3 :)
if it happens with all of your songs first try checking their type
if it's okay, try formatting your walkman and putting new songs
The Installation CD is not required. You just open the player folder and drag your songs onto the windows.
Just in case if unable to show device icon: If you have Windows 95 or 98, you may want to upgrade to later versions of Windows (2000, XP, Vista or later).

I erased some important files on my Bean and now can't perform the format through the device can somebody send me a copy of the files off of their bean so I can see if that will let me format My model is the nw-e307
This is because the player does not recognize tracks that havent been uploaded by Sonic Stage(You might have a CD of this software along with an mp3 player)
