Deleting a Tweet You can delete any of your own Tweets from Twitter at any time. How to delete one of your Tweets

From the Twitter for iOS app:

1. In the top menu, tap your profile icon.
2. Tap Profile.
3. Locate the Tweet you want to delete.
4. Tap the icon located at the top of the Tweet.
5. Tap Delete Tweet.
6. Tap Delete to confirm

You can find the step-by-step instructions on the twitter help website. Basically, you just need to include "@username" in your tweet to send a tweet to someone.

If they are following you, you can also send a direct message which is private.

• Direct Message (DM) - Sending Message within twitter. You can Direct Message only to a person who is following you. You cannot DM a person who you follow or who you don't follow.
• Mention - You can mention a person and send a tweet to them. It is like 'hey @username , this is for you'. When people follow you and the targeted receiver,they can see this tweet in their timeline.
• Timeline - The homepage when you sign in to twitter. Tweets posted by people who you follow will appear in your timeline. Your tweets will appear in Timeline of your followers.
• Follow - Following someone in Twitter. You receive their tweets in your timeline.
• UnFollow - Stops following that person in Twitter. You no more receive their tweets in your timeline.
• Block - You can block some person from contacting you via Twitter.
• Report Spam - You can report a user when he/she spams your timeline.
• Add to List - you can add person to specific lists. You can see tweets of people according to the lists you add them to in the Lists tab.
• #(hashtag) - The main feature of twitter that made it famous worldwide. You can add #sometrend to your tweet. When more people add the same '#sometrend' in their tweet,it appears in the Recent Trends. More the people tweet with '#sometrend' , more it gains attention from people worldwide. Do not use more than three hashtag for single tweet. Using so will cause twitter to detect your tweets as spam.
• Twitterer - You. Account holder in Twitter. Commonly called as Tweeple.

Twitter is slightly different to Facebook and works on a system of timelines. Unlike Facebook were you can freely post on someone's profile, on Twitter to do this you must ask them to ReTweet your tweet. However, you can give direct messages to or send tweets towards them by using the @username replacing the word username with the person whom you wan't to talk to.

If you want to sent a reply to some person use '@username' before the tweet. So that your tweet will treated as a reply to him/her.

All other tweets , will be posted your followers profile. IF he/she follows you in twitter, they can read all your tweets.

There are two ways to tweet people directly, 'private' and 'private-plus-friends':

1. Log in to Twitter via the Twitter Home Page, or via API. You can also update Twitter via Facebook and several other applications that use the Twitter API.
2. Enter your message in the box with the label "What are you doing?" Keep in mind that your tweet can be no longer than 140 characters at the most. This limitation exists because Twitter uses the SMS network to send notifications via cell phone to those who desire it.

You may receive error messages with the whale picture, but this is generally uncommon.

Twitter Over Capacity Error Explanation

Provided you don't get stuck with the Twitter Is Over Capacity Whale that I've been seeing lately, there are two ways to reply/tweet to people directly, 'private' and 'private-plus-friends':

1. Type "d USERNAME" before your tweet to send a direct message to a particular user. Only that user will see the message.
2. Put "@USERNAME" at the beginning of your tweet to send a reply to a particular user. That user, your followers and that user's followers will all be able to see the tweet, but it won't appear on the public timeline.

When you send that message with D or @, then the user will get our message even if you are not being followed.
