Hi. I have the keyboard off of the laptop but I cannot get the new one back on! I cannot get the keybaord strip back into the connector. Every other laptop I've looked at tonight says that the connector for the strip has to be unclipped, or unlocked, in order to slide the strip in and then make sure the connector clips back over it.
When I took the old keyboard off, it slipped out without releasing anything. Is there a trick to this? Thanks.
Yes, there is a trick. This is a ZIF or zero insertion force connector. When you removed it you probably just pulled hard enough that it let the connector slide out [ :( don't do that next time though ]
There is an excellent "video" of a ZIF connector here at the bottom of the page.
Otherwise look carefully at the connector and see how the connector is divided. It should be two pieces that either slide together/apart or one part flips up and snaps back down.
BE CAREFUL THOUGH! These connectors are very easy to damage/destroy. If you are doing the correct thing to open the connector is should take very little force.
Once you've got the connector open - stick the cable end back in it and close the connector and your keyboard should be working again.

THANKS so much! The video clip is EXACTLY what I have and you were correct in stating that I pulled hard enough to get it out the first time. Dumb move. Thanks again!!
