Not to worry,just leave it.With the minimal amount of water your ice maker uses,it will still be getting room temp water.

I've seen this before. Since I have brazing equipment, I silver solder it shut, but the line must be drained, and vented while doing it. You would need the proper equipment to do that. .....or you can call a plumber. He will have the equipment, as would any refrigeration tech.
I disagree. When you heat water, it tends to liberate oxygen, leaving the water with a flat taste, and as well can leave the water with in some cases with a mineral taste.
As an experiment, take 2 glasses, and fill one with hot tap water, and the second with cold. Place in the fridge for 4 hours, and perform a taste test. There should be a noticeable difference.
However, having said that, some people are sensitive to taste, and others not.
