While hooking up a refridgerator ice maker, I (like an idiot) pierced to wrong line. Hot instead of cold. How can I repair the hole in the hot supply line?

Not to worry, just leave it.With the minimal amount of water your ice maker uses,it will still be getting room temp water.

Good day,
Just leave it there, and puchase a new piercing valve.
I've seen this before. Since I have brazing equipment, I silver solder it shut, but the line must be drained, and vented while doing it. You would need the proper equipment to do that. .....or you can call a plumber. He will have the equipment, as would any refrigeration tech.

I disagree. When you heat water, it tends to liberate oxygen, leaving the water with a flat taste, and as well can leave the water with in some cases with a mineral taste.
As an experiment, take 2 glasses, and fill one with hot tap water, and the second with cold. Place in the fridge for 4 hours, and perform a taste test. There should be a noticeable difference.
However, having said that, some people are sensitive to taste, and others not.
You can make the call yourself.
