Roper Dryer - Now when I hit the start switch, I get the normal "buzz", that usually preceeds the dryer starting, but now the dryer will not spin, I just get the buzzz..... help! ...

you have a bad motor,if you open the door,hold the door switch in with one hand and spin the drum with the other and have someone else push the start button on and if by helping it to spin it starts usually the motor is bad but i did find on the maytag neptune style dryer that the belt cut into the belt pulley and was holding up the drum and the motor was buzzing like it was bad but like i say usually it's the motor.next time send the brand name and model number and i can help you out better.

Try this:
Open door. Hold door switch. Have someone push start button. When they do, spin drum. If it runs, motor start windings are not getting power. Could be a capacitor but not all motors use them. could be syntrifugal switch in motor or something in the start system. If that is the case, may want to think about getting another dryer from someplace like Loews. Good one is usually about $200 and up.

check the door switch. if the machine think the door is open, it will not start.
just locate the switch that the door would normally hit when you close it. operate it a few times with your finger. you should feel or hear a click when the switch closes. if you don't, the switch will need replaced.
other than that your timer is suspect. it is much more expensive to replace. good luck

You have a bad motor.
Buzzing and not starting.

Sounds to me like you motor has froze up. Is there any smell coming from the dryer? The fuse would not cause this. A fuse would make the dryer do nothing when you hit the start button.
