How do i upload pics from my htc hero to my computer

Its in the manual. If you don't have one download it from HTC. It answers a lot of questions. You'll also might need to download HTC sync from their website as well. But you'll need to plug the phone into a usb port with the cable that came with the phone. When the computer sees the phone then you have to unmount the sd card. There will be a notice in the notifications bar on the phone. Just click unmount. it should show up as a drive on the computer. just remember MOUNT the sd card again BEFORE you unplug it from the computer. You could trash the sd card!!

How can I set a ringtone that I have on my SD card as a download as a contact ringtone?

If you want them off the SD card, they need to be in a specific directory. Mount your SD card, and from your computer, create the following directories (if they are not there already):

-create a folder named media
-within this folder, create a folder named audio
-within this folder, create a folder named ringtones

Copy any audio files into that ringtones directory. I know mp3 and ogg files will work.

Unmount your SD card. Reboot your phone, and when you want to assign a ringtone, any of the newly copied ones should be on your list.

Playing music on htc hero from itunes library of macbook

One issue should go first ahead of your question --- is the music you want to transfer from iTunes DRM-protected?

1. If they are non-DRM .mp3 or .m4a, you can either use one-stand free iTunes transfer like DoubleTwist or iTunes Agent which dose good job of transferring iTunes music to HTC Hero; or you can manually frag and drop by following those steps:

Step 1. Plug in your phone via-usb to Windows Computer

Step 2. From the "HTC HERO Phone" pull down drop-menu from the top and select with your finger the menu that says "USB Connected Select to copy files to/from your computer.

Step 3. Select Mount ("on the phone")

Step 4. The Default Windows Removable Disk shows up (on the computer), select open folder to view files. Here you will see the phones & applications file structure.

Step 5. Select the file that says DCIM then 100MEDIA this is location for your music, pictures, and videos.

Step 6. Open up My Computer or Windows Explorer in a seprate window on the computer and copy and paste your files into the 100MEDIA location.

Step 7. Final step, from the phone pull down the drop down menu from the top and select Turn off USB Storage - Turn off - you will see SD Sync.

2. If they are DRM-protectd .m4p music .m4v video files or other protected .wma wmv files, a 3rd party DRM Removal Software is a must-have tool to strip DRM license and convert format to HTC supported .mp3 audio and .3gp video.

Transferring is as easy as what was stated above.

Music

sure. just connect your usb wire the big end to your computer the small end to the phone. then a moment later a notification at the top of your screen appears saying usb connected. then drag that notification menu down and tap the usb connected notification to bring up an option to mount or not mount. choose mount. now on your computer open my computer where you see c drive and d drive. look for removable disk. then click on it and you'll see some folders open the audio or music folder and leave it open. open my computer again this time look for the folder where you keep your music. now when you get there drag music files from you music folder to your g1 audio. it will copy it to your g1 and once you are done unmount your g1 and bring up your music and your new files shoul be in there.

Sd card, or device error when copying music files

If you are trying to play the file then it will be unmounted as it needs to disconnect from the pc to do that you could try copying them in batches if that doesnt work it may be a USB driver fault in which case i would reccomend reinstalling the G1 driver.

IMPORTANT G1 Question need Help now!!!!!

Put it in your PC and format it such that it allows for more items - music - to be added to or removed from the memory card whenever you waht to do that. That way, it will allow you to add and remove music whenever you want to do that, and it will not lock down the memory card. I have done the same thing with my 32 GB Flash Drive, and it works like a charm.
