Will not play a cd and gives an indication of nd, no cd.

The CD Burner / Player / DVD Burner are all different heads. If the Dell Inspiron E1705 is an older model it is most likely you have reached the end of it's usable life for the CD burner part. If it is new the CD burner is most likely defective and hopefully warrantied. Otherwise these CD/DVD units can be replaced relatively inexpensively (as compared to buying a new laptop).

ND means "No Disc". It's probably a newer CD - one that's been copied, perhaps? It's got a format newer than what the CD player on that unit will recognize. Try an older CD.

go to control panel and search for new hardware...or download new firmware fpr your device

If you are using a pirated cd or self compiled cd, chances they don't play. try the original cds

Your GE 7-5295 keeps showing nd (no disc), this simply means that your lens has been damaged. Please replace the lens and you would enjoy listening to music once again in your kitchen.

RD probably stands for "Reading Disc" and ND probably stands for "No Disc". If the CD player doesn't recognize any discs, then either the laser is dead or the motor has died. MOst likely you will have to replace the unit.

First off you need to make sure that your cd player in your car can play recordable media. Secondly sometimes some CD-Rs just dont work in certain players. So try the cd in a different player see if it works. If not the cd is bad, if so try different software. If it plays in a different cd player then its just your car player. Try a different brand CD-R if that occurs.

Have you contacted the manufacturers site and a)checked out their FAQ's and in the last resort Contacted their Support for help?

first try a audio CD see if ti reads that fine. then inset a data CD and see if you can see all the files on it. Try a few data and audio CD's. If it has trouble with any of these your drive has gone to the great garbage dump in the sky.

Have you tried cleaning the Lens? nd means No Disc, indicating that the Lens is not picking up the signal, and so is indicating a 'No Disc'
