Navman n40i smart st compatability problem with vista.

you will have to try using compatability mode to load and use these applications.

Check with Navman and ask them if the software will work with Windows Vista.

It's probably an issue with Vista, right click on the icon, go to properties, run as administrator, and run in compatability mode for XP. If this doesn't fix the problem, try contacting the software manufacturer.

Run the Navman software in XP emulation mode. Do a word search in Google for "XP emulation mode in Vista" to get instructions on using emulation mode.

Hi! You could try other burning software that is compatible! try looking at the originator of litescribe www.hewlettpackard.com or Windows Homepage for litescribe compatible software for Vista.

Solution to get GPS Navman N40I working with Windows Vista.

I solver the problem (most of it) by uninstalling the old activsynk witch was delivered with the manufactory CD. Then I downloaded from “http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/synchronize/device-center.mspx” Windows Mobile Device Center. After installing this software I connected my Navman N40I to my PC and waited to for the Mobile Device Center application to load. When it tried to gain partnership with my GPS I removed it. Voila, and the SmartST Desktop 2006 SE application was able to communicate with my GPS.

navman site has updaters

I installed the SmartST software and went to Setup -> Update Software -> Update Software on Navman.

I just had same problem while trying to load 2008 maps onto N40i . This I unfortunately discovered once I had already removed the existing maps as instructed part of install.

SmartST2006 isn't so smart! It kept saying I wasn't connected to internet when it was registering my product key' despite it most definitely being connected and I had temporarily disabled my AVG firewall just in case it was blocking.

I found an alternative way of registering the maps on the Navman website where it is required to enter the Navman serial number and the maps product key in order to get a code but that didn't work for me either, it didn't recognise my Navman serial despite having been fully registered when new.

My final (desperate) solution worked - find a computer with Win XP install SmartST2006 and hey presto! It took quite a while to load the maps though.

Proof to me that SmartST2006 is not compatible with Vista, if only they had put a slip in the maps box warning of this possibility.

The 'latest' pan Europe maps which are labeled 0408 actually appear to be 1106
