I have recently purchased a new desktop PC running Vista. The software that came with my n40i worked fine on my old XP machine but will not work on Vista. When I installed the software on my Vista machine Vista blocked the Active Sync from running stating the programme had compatibility problems.
Navman web site states it does not support Vista but suggests I use Microsoft Sync Centre to connect. I tried this but it did not work. I have also installed Microsoft Mobile Device Centre which recognised I had a devise connected via USB but would not connect it to the internet.
I am running McAffe Security Centre and Windows firewall is fully enabled.
Naveman software installed: SmartST Desktop 2006 and Active Sync 4.2
Please help with the following questions:
Is there a way to connect my N40i to update my Safety Camera files using Vista?
If yes, what settings do I need on the Mobile Device Centre and Sync Manager?
Any other suggestions would be very helpful.
Thanks
Hey using yista you cant connect it i feel.
when vista cant support it how will vista do the that job?
you wil have to install a additional OS of XP in your system i think.
Hi,
Are you not able to run the activesync program despite the Vista warning? Did you try running it in compatibility mode? What happnes when you try to connect with sync center (what happens...any error messages)? Regarding the mobile device centre...did you check that McAffe and windows firewall is not blocking it from internet access?
Sorry for so many questions.
Any updates?
I am glad it worked out for you in the end.
Thank you for using FixYa!

The compatibility problem between Vista, my Naveman n40i and SmartST desktop 2006 has now been solved.
I went onto Naveman.com to see if there were an update to Smart ST, and there was.
The update is Service Pack 2 which I downloaded.
Everything works fine now.
Thanks for your support anyway.
