Hard drive failure

It's just a Western Digital 320GB SATA harddrive,

http://www.ebay.com/itm/WESTERN-DIGITAL-320GB-WD3200BPVT-22ZEST0-HHBVJHNB-SATA-/170612627298

$229??????
I almost fell out of my chair! lol!
A 320GB SATA harddrive that is 2.5 inches across in width, (Regular laptop size) is W-A-Y cheaper than THAT!

Will the hard-drive from PACKARD-BELL IMEDIA X2414 go into DELL GX150LINUX

Yes if the data connections are compatible. SATA data interface and SATA power connector, it's a thin black connector.

It is not reccommend to switch drives across operating systems unless you are abolutely sure that you know how to access the drive without damaging/erasing the information that is currently on the drive.

The current Windows hard drive will not boot in a different pc system.

I would suggest getting the orginal pc working again, it may be a simple case of loose connection/contacts. Unless you had a friend that would be willing to help, by attaching your hard drive to his pc as a slave and then copying your data to DVD's.

See my published guide entitled: My Computer is not turning on!!! Is it dead!!! No POST!!!

Take care!

What type or brand of hard drive do I have to get to install in Acer AM5641 Desktop ? I want to upgrade to a 1 tb hd.

You currently have a 320GB 7200-rpm SATA II hard drive, with 8MB cache install on a base package of your make and model of computer. I would recommend a hard drive like Samsung Spinpoint F4EG 2 TB Internal hard drive. You can find it roughly for $70.00 - $90.00 at online stores like amazon, new egg, etc.

I hope this helps.

Hey, guys. Just bought a PS3 Slim 320GB. Want to know if I can swap the hard drive for something bigger, like 500GB or 1TB. If I can, will I need to do some software mods, or is it just like plug-n-play?...

chrisff60

To upgrade your hard drive you will not need to mode the system. I know the system should support the 500gb drive. As for the 1tb drive it may work but it depends if the system has support for a 1tb drive. Sony may have not added support for 1tb drives to the PS3. The link below will show you how to remove the hard drive.

This won't be the best solution for you perhaps because I'm not a windows guy, but download the gparted (just google for gparted) cd image, burn it to disk and boot it up. Use that to partition and format the drive.
