Hello. go to any computer store, like a staples, and ask the techie to show you what antivirus software they have. There is quite a price range but the Norton product is excellent and under 50 dollars.

I help how to remove trojan/other virus from my window 7 laptop.please help me.

Here's a fee-based service to do it for you:

http://us.norton.com/nortonlive/

To detect the threat level, you may want to try the free (& advertised on TV) web site
www.MySafePC.com, but virus removal will cost $$ - they're happy to tell you you're infected for
free, though.

Here's Symantec's list of things to do:

If you suspect that your computer is infected with a threat or you receive a threat alert, and you want to make sure that your computer is secure.

You can perform a virus scan to eliminate any known threat from your computer. Scanning your computer for threats is easy if you follow the step-by-step instructions provided in this article. The scanning process may take an hour or more, depending on the number of files you have on your computer.

To detect and remove all the threats from your computer, follow these five steps:

• Install the latest virus definitions.

• Stop all running programs and temporarily disconnect the computer from any network.

• Run the virus scan.

• Install the latest Windows updates.

• Run a full system scan once again to ensure that there are no threats.

The first step is to check whether you can install the latest virus definitions, as some threats may block your access to all the security products' Web sites including Symantec's Web site. The subsequent steps vary depending on whether you can download the latest definitions from the Symantec Web site or not.

Have a virus on my toshiba laptop, can i resolve this by restoring the factory settings?

Hi Andrewfairwa.

Yes, you may remove all the security threats in the Computer by restoring it to the Factory settings.

But, restoring the Computer to the Factory settings will also delete the Data in the Hard Drive.

Hence, you may try performing a Complete System Scan to check for any Virus or security threats.

You may perform the Complete System Scan by using the Anti-virus Application installed in the Computer.

If you have not installed any Anti-virus Application installed in the Computer, you may perform a online System Scan.

Let me provide the detailed steps to perform the online System Scan.

You may perform the free Online Scan by visiting the below link:

http://www.bitdefender.com/scanner/online/free.html

Please open the above link and click on "Start Scanner".

This will start the free Online System Scan.

Once the Scan is complete, check if the Virus or any security threats are removed from the Computer.

If there are still any threats, then you may backup all the important Data and restore the Computer to the Factory settings.

Hope this helps.

Please feel free to ask further questions.

I did a scan on my pc and it detected 38 virus th

The easiest and lowest  cost thing to do would be to download Avast!. It is a virus protection software, and if you google search that name, you can download a free trial.  After you download it and you start to set it up, it will ask you if you would like to do a boot time scan on your next restart.  Says yes, and when you restart your computer, it will do a virus scan before booting into windows.  This allows it to remove threats that may be in running memory.  It is very slow, but does a very good job at getting rid of viruses and whatnot.

I have norton all in 1, but im still getting security alerts not from norton, telling me i have 45 threats and telling me my anti-virus will not protect me from this threat.

Make sure that you run your antivirus as soon as possible.

If you don't run it regularly, you might be out of luck. When your computer becomes infected with a virus and you don't take care of it right away, the virus replicates. The longer the problem is unsolved, the harder it will be to remove it.

This is what I would do:

Update Norton and then run a complete scan. If Norton doesn't catch all of it then we'll try a more drastic measure.

You can go to this site: http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/ and us The Ultimate Boot CD to fix your problem. The ultimate boot cd gives you a ton of applications to fix a variety of problems. Many IT companies have discs similar to this. It is an amazing tool that helps out a lot.

What you'll need to do is download The Ultimate Boot CD and burn it to a CD. Afterwards put the disk back into your computer and run it from startup. From there you can run the antivirus programs that are on the disk to remove the threats.

This is ususally a more effective way of removing threats like this because it gives you several programs to remove malicious software.
