Doubt the software will work on Vista. If you do have the disk, before you click on the install program, right click it and use the "XP compatability" mode. I would dual boot to an XP partition to take care of all your XP needs. Its a bummer but that is what Im doing...

SOURCE: How do I download photos from my Olympus Camedia

either get a card reader to hook up to your usb on your computer this is easiest and dont have to download a driver for your camera if you dont have a disk. Or just get a usb for your camera and download them.

You can download using a card reader instead of your camera.

How do i install software to upload photos from my olympus c-4000 camera

One way to transfer photos from your Olympus c-4000 camera to your computer without installing any software is to remove the memory card from the camera and plug it into a card reader on your computer. The pictures on your camera will be shown in windows explorer as a removable storage device.

If you don't have a card reader connected or built-in to your computer for your memory card type, then try connecting your camera with the usb cable, and your pictures will show up in windows explorer as a removable storage device.

USB divice not recognized

I tried many ways to fix the problem. Someone suggesting unpluging it for 30 min. That didn't work. I downloaded the latest version of the camera driver. That didn't work. I downloaded the latest version of windows, and that didn't work.
I was running out of ideas. But I thought I might try restoring my computer to a prior date. This restore feature hasn't worked for me for 6 month. But, that day, luck was on my side.
Since I restored my computer to two weeks ago. My problem, is fixed!

Try photo recovery software to rescue the lost photos, here are some you may rely on.
Photo Recovery Software (for Windows)
Mac Photo Recovery Software (for Mac OS X)

Be careful: Before your pictures are recovered, do not attempt to save more files to the memory card in case the original files(your pictures) are overwritten.

Blurry and Bright white on subject face

This could be a CCD fault or possibly Lens damage. Not I would think something amenable to a sensible repair price- check Olympus first though.
