if u have a installation cd then install it if no then purchase a universel driver cd then copy it on ur usb frm other pc then plug in to ur pc and than install the driver from my computer icon>manage>device manager>options scan for hardware changes
make sure that the dvd rw is getting enough consistent power test all leads that are attached to the cd rom including electical extensions and make sure they have a secure connection or just replace them there might bebad/faulty or your drivers may have been corrupted or you might have a virus run your antivrus program you might have to physically unplug the leads for this dvd rw then plug them back in this will activate found new hardware wizard or you might have to uninstall then reinstall your dvd burner or uninstall the driver then reinstall for this device or you might have to uninstall the burning software then reinstall your burning software
setting in your DVD burner utility
look for options or advanced settings on the utility that burns the DVD or CD's i e nero or roxio etc.
Usually you can format a DVD CD burner to make it playable on all devices
ok?
A Virus Would Corrupt or remove/Change drivers.
You need to remove The Virus.
You should then remove The DVD Drive Manually from The Machine.
Start the Computer without The Drive, then power Off the Computer.
re-install the Drive, boot up and Hopefully it should be detected in ( found new Hardware ) if not, go to add new hardware wizard, and see if it,s detected there. A Virus Can Actually lock-Off a Drive.
I found this problem to more users of this model ..the only thing I can advice you is to try to change with another comp model ....some have a lot of theories ..about it ...and long fixes..but It seems that the problems came with some vista updates ...so ..either get on xp sp3...cause its reliable ..or change it ..cause it will never work proper..
