Hello. I am going to assume that you have windows vista on the laptop. If I am incorrect, please let me know for different instructions.

Turn computer off
Turn computer back on and immediately press F4.
Choose advanced options
Choose restore to factory

Please note that this will delete all of your files from your computer including pictures, music, etc. Back them up to a CDrom or other device before continuing.

Great, the instructions will work perfectly. This process will probably take a few hours as the factory restore puts all programs back on pc.

Please can you tell me how to restore the factory settings on an Acer aspire one AOA110 netbook? Many thanks

Start tapping Alt+F10 or AltGr+F10 as soon as the computer powers up.
That will take you to the recovery screen.
Do a complete system recovery.

I have acer aspire 3002lci . I want restore factory settings. I won't have recovery cd.How to do? i had done with alt+f10 it doesn't work.

The ALT+F10 routine should work if the ALT key is held down and the F10 key is repeatedly depressed before and during the Acer logo display.
If you still have a working M/C then the recovery routine can be accessed from START / ALL PROGAMS and selecting Acer Empowering Technology and then Acer recovery Management.
This might differ a little because you have a netbook

Unable to restart laptop to factory settings by alt-f10. how do i restart to factory settings?

Are you holding down the Alt-f10 right when the Acer logo comes on? You have very little time to request this option. You must also have the original HD installed that has the restore partition.
