Handbook recommends 5w30. I personally use 10W30. It leaves a better film on the pistons so when you start up the engine there isnt a knock. 5W30 makes a small ticking sound when you first start up but then goes away. If you want a brand recommendation I recommend Castrol GTX or Motorcraft

I am going to be changing the oil pan gasket on my Daughters 98 Taurus. Is there anything special I need to know? Thankyou

Some of the tauruses you have to remove part of the exhaust..Make sure you look to see if you have clearance..If you cant get it out you can still get the gasket on while it in the vehicle..Pay attention to the torque,,make sure you do it correctly..

How many quarts of oil does a ford taurus take?

The recommended fill point will be 4 1/2 Quart. This includes the filter, as well. Fill to 4 1/2 Quarts. No more, or less. Valvoline SynPower Full Synthetic 5W-20 Motor Oil is the only oil to run is this particular vehicle. If you run a heavier oil in this engine, you risk clogging the head oil ports, and the timing chain tensioner oil channels, as well. This will induce massive repairs down the road.

1997 Ford Taurus oil pressure light comes on only when rpm's drop below 700. Have change the oil pressure switch but still happens.

Worn oil pump or cam brgs. Noticed the oil change, what about the oil filter? The oil filter has a bypass in it that will allow unfiltered oil to get past the oil filter if it plugs up. What is your mileage now and how was your maintenance habits? Good Luck. Remember, your cam brgs are the first point of resistance that control your oil pressure, not your rods or mains

Blinking oil light, when oil is full

The oil gets lighter as the engine heats up.
Was this problem there before you changed the oil? If no, thn the grade of the engine oil you have used (replace) could be of wrong specs., try using a higher grade.
Hope this helps!
