I have a K-Gro 42" riding mower with an 18HP B&S engine. Went to start it about a month ago and it would not turn over. I checked the battery, and it has a good charge on it. I figured it must be a safety switch somewhere that was not allowing it to start. I pushed it back in the garage and got out the push mower. Went to go look at the rider again with a friend, and now the back wheels are locked up and will not move at all - even when the transmission is in neutral. I have checked all of the normal things, and it appears to be stuck in gear. Won't start or move. Any thoughts? Is it time to buy another?
Thanks
Sounds like the pins/dowels in your brake caliper have gotten dirty and/or rusty and are not releasing all the way. When I had my shop, we found a lot of these and I or my mechanics pulled and cleaned them then took a drill 1/64th larger than the pin/dowel and ran it through the holes in the caliper, NO MORE PROBLEMS!
