Before you uninstall Excel, first ensure your formulas are set to automatic.

Go to the Formulas Ribbon.
Calculation Options.

Dear chidambar, thats usually because you've mistakenly tampered with a file or because you're putting an inapplicable value. Can you tell me what error is it exactly ?

you might like to re-install your MS excel after backing up your files. You might also like to repaire your ms office from your cd.

if that has helped you plz press fixya.

Periodically during Office Service Pack updates the system will ask for the original CD. This is done for copyright purposes to make sure that bootleg software isn't in the computer.

Do you have an Office CD to correct the prolem or a Key code?

If you have linked one workbook to only one other workbook, I would suggest opening both. This should cause the main one to update basically instantly, and eliminate the timing issue. Otherwise, you might try looking at possibly storing both files in the same folder - it could help. Additionally, depending on what you want the sheet to do, you could set it to update only when you tell it to, rather than automatically - this allows you to control the timing of any waiting that happens. However, unless there are a large number of cells and multiple workbooks involved, it should not take that long... If you need further help, just let me know. Thanks for rating FixYa!

MS Excel

Can you please provide any additional information, including error messages generated by Excel? Without knowing the specific error message, your surest solution is to completely uninstall Microsoft Office by going to your Control Panel and double-clicking "Add/Remove Programs". Then, once Microsoft Office is uninstalled, reinstall it using the CD.
