I had a similar problem wit a 10hp B/S. It was the carb - needle valve/float sticking open and flooding. Tapping the carb body with a light hammer will solve the problem temporarily. When parked, mine also would overflow gas into the cylinder and from there into the crank case. Had to put in ma shutoff valve in the fuel line. B/S uses a poor carb sometimes.

Sounds like a micro switch issue shutting the engine down, start by checking the seat switch, make sure the connecter is pushed well in.

Sounds like you will need to clean your carburetor.
Sometimes you can get by with priming it a few times, and letting it
run a few times like that and it will flush the gunk out of the jets,
but most of the time you will need to rebuild the carburetor.
If the mower is over a couple years old, then I also recommend that you
buy and install a new carburetor repair kit, because the diaphragm will
get hard and that will cause it to be hard to crank.
When you clean your carburetor and remove the jet screws, count the
number of turns it takes to seat the jets from their original position.
That way when you go to put the jets back in, you know how many turns
they were in/out.

Needs a new diaphragm. Its between the carb. and gas tank. It collapsed and doesn't allow enough gas to carb. to keep motor running.

NEEDS A CARB KIT AND FLUSHED OUT

There should be 3 -3/8 or 7/16" bolts on the side of mower (where the spark plug is, there should be one) the other two will be just opposit of the two. Remove bolts and housing should be free.You might to remove any cables to free up any slack.
