88 Mazda 626 won't turn over

try autozone library ,most cases its located on the lowest portion of tranny that is automatic , when at auto zone look up the part tranny filter and it will show you what it looks like

your tranny needs to be overhauled when was the last you change your tranny oil

Have tranny rebuilt. Sounds like it gummed up.

The transmission range sensor aka neutral safety switch is located underneath the air filter on top of the transaxle and very easy to access. Replace this part (around $50) and it will solve your problem.
What happens is this, when your tranny warms up, it disperses heat to the sensor switch and if its faulty or worn out, will send faulty relays to the transmissiom computer module (TCM) and makes the transmission shift irratically (OD to 3rd and back while driving at freeway speeds). You tranny is not overheating like most people believe, its the switch. Mechanics are telling alot of people that their tranny needs replaced. Watch Out For These People!! They only want your money!!

Oh, great...just bought a '95 626 for my daughter and we're going thru the same problems. Was told to replace valve cover gasket and plugs and wires. replaced filters and put in new oil and fluids. Also read somewhere it could be alternator issues.

if its reving high then shifting then your trannys going

check the tranny fluid level .if all good change filter and fluid.

This happends to me on a toyota camry. I got away with replacing the tranny filter and fluid. It worked but I dont know how long it will work for. chances are there is already damage done to your tranny

plugs/wires, fuel pump, fuel filter, maf, bad fuel pressure reg. depends on what it drives like, hard to answer without driving it
