Mopar plugs are gapped at .035, while points are .020 for /6 and .017 for all V8s. You can get a gapper at any parts store for maybe five bucks- it's just a set of little pieces of metal of the right size to stick in there. You need the kind that are a thin strip of metal- the disk kind you can use for plugs won't work because you can't fit it down in there.
1979?? not sure if this has points or electronic ignition ,so if points then check the gap and condition of the points ,if electronic ignition then it maybe the module is going down or dirty contacts on the connection on the distributor ,not sure exactly as to what is fitted to this vehicle as its a american model and as such i have never seen one
If it's a v8, order is 18436572 to find #1, turn the crank to tdc on timing scale, and see where the rotor is pointing it will either point to #1 or 180degrees away from it (towards the rear of the engine.)
