Hi i bought this game and installed it but will not play because it asks for CD-ROM disck 2. theres only 1 disc in the box. please help!

Have you tried inserting Disc 1 and then try to play the game?

From the Nancy Drew web site:

Windows Vista/7 Support Installing older games (#1-13) with Windows Vista/7.
While our older games are not completely Windows Vista/7 compliant (notably games #1-13), there is a workaround which has been successful for most players. Please take the following steps to manually install.
If you had previously installed, uninstall the game and then delete all remaining game file folders from your computer, including emptying them out of your Recycle Bin. These files may be in one of the following locations:
C:\Nancy Drew\
C:\Program Files\Nancy Drew\
In your Documents folder: C:\Users\Username\Documents\
Once this is done, make sure you're logged on as an Administrator for your computer and manually install by taking the following steps:
1. Go to your "Documents" folder and create a new folder. Rename the folder with the title of the game.
2. Insert game Disk 1 in your disk drive and open "Computer" from the "Start" menu.
3. Double-click on your CD-Rom/DVD drive, look for a Setup or Setup Launcher Installshield file. Double-click this file to start the installation process.
4. When install asks what directory you want your game to install to, click "Browse".
5. Navigate to the game folder you created by selecting "C:" drive, then "Users" (or User name), then "Documents", then select the game folder.
6. Continue forward with the installation process, when asked if you want to install DirectX, check "No, I will install myself".
7. Upon completion, uncheck the "Play Now" box, click finish and exit setup.
For game titles #1-5, follow these three additional steps:
1. Right-click the game icon that is now on your desktop, select "Properties".
2. Under "Properties", click on the "Compatibility" tab.
3. Check the "Run in Compatibility Mode" box and then select "Windows 98/Me" from the drop-down menu.
You should now be able to open and play the game. If you installed an older version of DirectX with the game, please go to Microsoft's Download Center to download and install the latest version of DirectX for your version of Windows.

You may be experiencing different types of error message like NO DISC, INSERT DISC or NO DEVICE AVAILABLE. There are two ways of fixing the problem and the most convenient way is if your'e able to connect to the internet, there is an autofix from Microsoft where you can just Run the program from them. Please click on this link and once you have the website, follow these steps:

1. Click on Run now,

2. There will a pop up box, click again on Run

3. There will be another pop up box asking if you want to run or save it, just click on Run

4. Follow the instructions.

The other option is to access you registry to delete upper filter and lower filter.

1. Click on START
2 Type REGEDIT on the search bar on START Menu on the Run Box
3. Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
4. Expand SYSTEM
5. Expand CurrentControlSet
6. Expand Control
7. Expand Class
8. Click {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
9. Look for the Upper Filters / right click on it / click on Delete

10. Look for the Lower Filters / right click on it / click on Delete
11. Restart PC
12. Try you CD / DVD ROM

If all these things doesnt work, there's a possibility that the problem is with the DVD Rom hardware itself and not the software side.

you have to crack this game. First of all you have to open your disc from cd-rom drive, then open crack folder, copy that .exe file and paste into your game directory where you installed your game,then replace that whet it ask to you. now you can play freely.

First things first What type of Disc Drive are you using ?
CD Rom
CD/DVD Drive

Requirements are that you use a CD/DVD Rom Drive.

Next make sure the disc itself is not smudged with finger prints ect. Also check for scratches on the disc. Making sure it is clean ensures that the laser is correctly reading the disc.


Double check and see if other disc's DVD's and CD's will play in the same drive to ensure the drive itself is not bad.

Post back if you are still having problems after verifying that these things are not causing the issue.

It's not asking for a specific disc, it's asking for a properly formatted PlayStation disc.

This message could mean that any one of several things has happened:
* You are trying to play a Japanese disc on a US PS2, or vice versa
* You are trying to play a game that has been copied onto a CD-R/DVD-R
* Your disc is scratched/dirty/otherwise unreadable
* Your disc isn't a format that the PS2 recognises (i.e. CD, DVD, PS CD-ROM, PS2 CD-ROM, PS2 DVD-ROM, etc)
* Your PS2 is broken

You need to install the game first. Install the discs in order starting with disc 1. Once you put it in the CD/DVD drive and close it, it should bring up the install screen. When it needs disc 2 and 3, it will prompt you to put them in. If disc 1 does not start installation, then you are most likely missing a disc that would be called "Install Disc". 2 paste in folder you installed it.
now u can play .

buy the original or search for a patch..!!

play audio cd .if it plays and cannot play dvd disck or game disc ,you have to change optical lens assembly. It shoud be 400c or 400b or 400r
