I have a White-Rogers 1F86-444 thermostat and the display is broken and hard to read, I have replaced the batteries and the display remains the same. And advice?

Im not sure what your application is but this stat is for a heat heat pump operation or forced air with A/C and heating. If you don't need the heat pump operation and you are using forced air furnace make sure all connections are good as labelled and connected to the proper terminals at both the furnace and thermostat If you installed new batteries and programmed the system without connecting to the sub-base and the numbers are still broken up you should replace it. This is the manual for your thermostat. You probably just have bad batteries. If you pull your thermostat shell off you should see batteries in the shell or base, further, if you have a blue wire in the wires that hook to base, make sure it's connected. The unit could be bad but, they count on the batteries for display and memory.

The display will indicate CHECK STAT if one of the following occurs.
• One of the buttons is stuck down or in. Check buttons, make sure nothing is pushing them in.
• The thermostat sensor is not functioning. If using a remote sensor, check connections, wiring and power.
• The humidity sensor is not functioning.
After checking the above, press PROGRAM RUN to reset the display. If this does not clear the display, disconnect power and remove the batteries for five minutes.If these checks fail to solve the problem, the thermostat should be replaced.

Hi,
Either you blew the fuse on the air handler control board or you burnt out the air handler transformer.
The thing that blew the fuse is probably the contactor in the condenser unit. You will need to check out out cause of the outage before replacing the fuse or transformer.

Try removing the battery and disconnecting the "R" wire for approx 10 minutes, then reconnect and reinstall good battery........sort of like restarting a computer.......we're hoping this will reset something. If you continue to have problems and are certain without a doubt that the battery is good, then the problem is in your thermostat.

No you need to change your t,stat. Go to home depot or Lowes and get one easy to install Any problems please get back to me I will walk you thru. Rus

Normally the Temperature setting will either display all the time or alternate between Time and Temperature
