Hi,my powersteering pump is making a whining sound so i changed it with a new one and i was doing everything by book but stil the same problem, can somebody give advice? Polo classic 16i 98model

Check power steering fluid. "Whining" is too broad a term, sorry.

check powersteering fluid,if its low it will whine,just be careful not to over fill it. If you fillit and it still whines,you prob need a new pump

Yes. You should get the fluids in your car changed according to your maint. books recommendations. I have nearly 175,000 miles on my Toyota and I believe it is because I have faithfully kept up with my oil, fluid and belt changes. Happy driving. Kris

make sure belt is tightened, make sure power steering fluid is full.

It sounds like you need to replace the serpentine belt when they get old they will whine and when they warm up alot of times it will quit and sometimes not but it sounds like you just need a new serpentine belt which runs your water pump,alternator,powersteering.

check the fluid level, If this does not fix it you will need a new pump or rack and pinion

The Power Steering cannot only go out when in Reverse. You must have a Problem with it going both Ways. Do some driving and a Lot of turning. Listen for a Whine or Clicking from the Power Steering Pump.

It will be Hard to Steer and Turn and will make a Whining Grinding Sound. If you blow a Line, Trust me, You would know it!

the whine is from the power steering pump...you probably have a split line that needs replaced..
