Dear Laurie,
Well, yes it is right.
All things wear out, cars are no exception.
Your heater hoses have lasted 10 years, and that is surely good, few last longer than that.
You will need to have them all replaced, or they will keep on failing rather quickly.
While you are at it, carefully check the radiator hoses as well.
God bless your efforts.

Gurgling when shut off could be (as on my car) the radiator's overflow bottle feeding back into the radiator as it cools, or still boiling into overflow bottle if very hot.
Heater hose should be renewed ASAP as coolant loss may be causing overheating / gurgling and will likely cause major damage to engine if left unfixed.
Is hose cracked?
Might just need re-sealant and hose-clamp.
If you seal allow several hours to set completely otherwise steam pressure could push wet sealer out.
Is this helpful?

SOURCE: antifreeze leak

Inspect hoses and generally cooling system after you have warm up engine at operation temperature and stopped. See if steam somewhere comes out .
If cooling system doesnt leaks outside, perhaps engine head gasket is broken. to have an estimate watch if your exhaust is leaking some water or steam when starting engine.

SOURCE: Car is leaking antifreeze from underneath of car

watch for leaks and follow them after you drive i would geuss checking your thermostate housing both parts, the hoses that go to the heater core by the throttle body and the hose that goes to the throttle body, im guessing this is the turbo, if it is a non turbo it would be a hoses the waterpump or the oring that goes into the waterpipe on the front of the block, just get in there and take a good luck and remember the rules of gravity =) good luck man and if you need any parts for it let me know we got alot of these parts cars out in our yard

SOURCE: Brief antifreeze smell in Jeep

Make sure the cooling system is clean with fresh coolant when u change the core, otherwise u may damge the new core becuase your coolant is worn out, if your Jeep has over 60,000 it should be done anyway, also I recommend at least a new upper radiator hose while it is drainned and inspect the other parts of the system.

SOURCE: smell antifreeze, no leaks, gurgleing behind drivers side dash.

there is air in system causing gurgling/set heater to defrost and check for sweet smell. do while stopped if core is leaking windshield will fog up and be hard to clear.

SOURCE: 92 Toyota Camry, antifreeze leaking no leak found

have you had the undercarriage inspected for white stains from coolant, rust stains if your system is corroded? How many miles? has the water pump ever been replaced, that would be my guess, water pumps leak while the eng is running and the hot engine evaporates the coolant, so in many cases none on the ground. Also have the system pressure tested by a shop and put on a rack to check for signs of leaking under the car.

Testimonial: "Thank you for your answer. I have not changed the water pump since I bought the car 5 yrs ago. I will check that."

Antifreeze leak, blockage in cooling system or stuck thermostat resulting in overheating which causes the gurgling noise you hear

My ac blows air but doesnt blow cold air i tried to recharge it myself it worked for about 1 day i also hear water gurgling sound when i first drive it coming from the under the dash

You have a freon leak. Get freon with a die and see where it is leaking from. The water noise may not be related to the a/c, but maybe the heater.

1999 mercury grand marquis occasionally overheats, leaks around radiator cap, makes gurgling noise on passenger side. Have replaced heater core, water pump, thermostat, hoses,& radiator cap.

Check the antifreeze for oil, pull your dipstick out, see if antifreeze is in oil or smells sweet or over full, sounds like you may of a bad head gasket. You can also check this by having a compression test done on the cylinders.

it could easily be burning the antifreeze through a bad head gasket. if when warmed up the upper hose is quite stiff indicating the system is under pressureand you shut it off, even waiting until the radiator fan comes on and then right away turning of the key, wait and see iff anything runs out.the water pump would have to be looked at from below while the leak is ocuuring= reason must mechanics suffer a lot of burns. or with a sall extendable saft mirror. you could also loose antifreeze from a heater core leak but that would give a lot of steam on your windshield inside in the cold weather,or the carpet would be wet inside the car

Water leaking on headliner

The hoses for your sun roof run down the front pillars. You may have clogs in the rear hoses that go down into the trunk area and when you move and stop the water rushes to the front hoses and run down. Gurgling is a good noise that the hoses are moving water. I would have all your hoses checked and flushed. The back hoses are most likely cloged or damaged.

Is it low in water? You have a heater control valve on that side . Your heater hoses connects to it to let hot water in the car when the heater is turned on. Check and make sure the passenger floor is dry. If it is wet you will need a heater core
