My 42 inch craftsman will not go into reverse and is difficult to go forward..

It's always good to list the model number of your tractor. You can find the model number under the seat. Look under the back of the tractor and inspect the transmission housing. If the housing is black go here to troubleshoot your problem. It's most likely the top of the trans needs to be cleaned off but that website will help you make sure.

Hi, the most likely cause is the transmission over heating. Remove the battery and the cradle underneath the battery. Here you should be able to access the transmission. Clean all grass and debris from the cooling fins and check the cooling fan for damage. Hope this helps. Regards Phil.

My craftsman lawn tractor 42" cut (2007 model) cuts off when i try to engage the cutting blades

You have a safety switch somewhere that is open, like the seat, you have to be in the seat or it will kill the engine, sometimes the clutch has to be in, not moving, sometimes the gear selector in neutral, You have a bunch of safety switches that prevent the mower from spinning if you are not in your seat, not ready, etc. Check them out. Hope this helps.

I have a Kraftsman 91.5 42 inch cut model #

Safety switch at seat or reverse. Mower will cut of when blades are engaged if you get off the seat or put into reverse. Check these switches for stuck on, damaged, disconnected, or just plain broke. Good luck.
