Hi There, If you are talking about the Vax vacuums that are looking a bit like R2D2 (bucket on wheels) the most likely cause is a short in the power cord. It is easily fixed by shortening the cord by 30 cm. If you are not comfortable shortening an electrical lead any electrician or repair man will be able to do it for you. A second possible cause is a faulty
switch. A distant third possible is the
motor itself has failed.
The motor really should only be replaced by a technician unless you are very comfortable playing with this type of repair.
