Yes with out being there to check it for heat only applications you only utilize the red and white wires. It goes to say that red goes on the red terminal R and white to the white terminal W. Should you have done this correctly your heater is now run by the thermostat. Good Job and happy heating!!
I am unsure of your question, but if you are just replacing your old thermostat with a new one, then connect the red wire to the Rh or R terminal and the white wire to the W terminal on the thermostat. Hope this helps
The red and white wires go to the R and W terminals on the thermostat. Disconnect what you have now and hook the red wire to the R terminal and the white wire to the W terminal on the new thermostat and see what happens.
Check for a bad thermostat and wire by jumping the red and white wire together at the thermostat. If the unit fires, you have a bad thermostat. If it does not, jump the R and W terminals at the furnace (or where ever the thermostat wires are connected to). If the unit fires you have a bad wire. If it still does not fire, you have an issue with the heating system not the thermostat or its wires.
you have to go down to your furnace and follow the thermostat wire ...it connects to a terminal strip or fan centre...the color doesn;t really matter...installers mix and match all the time....look at the furnace wiring and mark it down...Red on "R"...Green on "Y" whatever it is...and connect it accordingly upstairs...if you only have 4 thermostat wires downstairs you will need a jumper wire between RH and RC...if you have 5 wires you will see 2 wires on "R" at the furnace.,...and connect either to RH and RC at the thermostat
rh is power for cooling terminal and rh is power for heating terminal connect red wire to rc or rh and there should be a jumper between rc and rh if not install one all other wires are color coded correctly. now the blue wire is not used.
