No - opening the vent will allow unconditioned outside air into the space and add to the humidity load.

Think of it like your car's A/C - when you put the controls to "Max A/C" the system recycles just the air inside the car and doesn't use any outside air. When the control is set to normal A/C, some outside (fresh) air is brought in.

The same thing is true for a window A/C unit. Keeping the vent closed will help the unit de-humidify and cool the air more quickly.

Make sure you do not have it on fan and have it set on cool/cold. Otherwise you may need to have the it recharged by a h-vac professional. Also you can try clean the filters and the compresser/condenser (the part that is out side. Sometimes Dirt can keep your unit from working to it full potential.

Fan not blowing heat in vw beetle

Find the temp flap cable under the control head and follow it to the flap. Check to see if it is properly connected to the flap. Then adjust per the instructions below.

Should the air vent lever be pushed in to get fresh outside air on a danby dac12010E air conditioner?

I don't think anyone is really understanding what you are asking. I had the same question with a Danby AC. For everyone else, this person is not asking what the switch does, they are asking if the "in" position is vent. This has a little plastic manual push/pull lever that the manual calls a vent switch, but does not specify which position of the switch is for what, and its all internal so you can't see what's going on.

My best guess is that pushing it in is vent, with my only reasoning being that the switch stops when pulling it in, but I've seemed to manage pushing it in too far, going past the intended stop. That leads me to believe that I'm just over opening it. I don't think I could over close it.

What is purpose of pull lever on top right of decorative panel

It's an air intake vent damper. If you push it in, the unit won't pull any air from outside, instead it'll recirculate air from the room. If you pull it outward, it allows the unit to pull air from outside. During the day when it's hot outside, the lever should be pushed into the closed position to allow for more efficient cooling. At night, if you want to exchange air from outside when it's cool enough, pull out the lever to allow that to happen. The unit will exhaust hot air no matter if this switch is in or out.
