The vent lever on a emerson quiet cool what position is pushed all the way in and obviously opposite so what's the position when pulled all the way out? Not left or right. thanks

Hi, It opens a flap that allows fresh outside air to come in. The opening it screen covered on most units so no insects get in. To get the most cooling it is best to leave it closed. No - opening the vent will allow unconditioned outside air into the space and add to the humidity load.

Think of it like your car's A/C - when you put the controls to "Max A/C" the system recycles just the air inside the car and doesn't use any outside air. When the control is set to normal A/C, some outside (fresh) air is brought in.

The same thing is true for a window A/C unit. Keeping the vent closed will help the unit de-humidify and cool the air more quickly.

Make sure you do not have it on fan and have it set on cool/cold. Otherwise you may need to have the it recharged by a h-vac professional.
