Your oil light is not a lvl indicator, it is a pressure indicator. If it is coming on you need to verify what your pressure actually is. Get a mechanical gauge hooked to the engine, you should have above 25psi. If not then you will need to go into the engine and figure out if you have a plugged sump tube, bad oil pump, or too much bearing clearance causing your low pressure condition.

I have a 2003 dodge durango, it has 119,000 miles and I noticed that when I stop at a signal light or just stop vehicle, sometimes it just cuts off. I purchased vehicle used.

Greetings:

What engine does your Durango have? Your tune up interval for spark plugs is every 30K. When was the last time that was done?

The 2003 was the last year of the Generation 1 Durango, and is considered the best of the 98-03 years.

Oil light comes on when stopping & goes off when accelerating.

Low on oil or bad conection at sending unit. Maybe even a bad sending unit. Make sure the engine is off when checking oil.Not trying to be rude.

I have a 2003 durango that has 86,000 miles on it, just recently sicne we have had some really cold weather the oil light will come on when i sit at an idle. just had the oil changed and i use 5w-30, can...

Did you change the oil yourself, or was it at one of those quick lube places. If you had it done by someone else, you really don't know what they put in your engine. Their oil is bought in bulk, by the barrel, and it's the cheapest stuff in the world. Some of it is even recycled oil. If I were you, I would change the oil again, using premium oil from an auto parts store. Some of those lube places even clean up the old filters and reuse them. 5w30 is the correct oil viscosity. I would go for the full synthetic oil. It lubes better and lasts longer.

2006 Dodge Durango Oil light comes on

It might be faulty oil pressure sensor or bad oil pump, but might be adressed to recent oil change. Sometimes oil get viscouse in winter and cause oil light to come on. For winter the recommended one is 5W-30
Oil light should come on for less then a second during starting the car. If it comes longer or when you push the brake it might be the sign of bad oil (sometimes), faulty oil pressure sensor (mosty), bad oil pump (often) or internal engine problem (very rare).
