Try taking out the battery and re;install.lens should retract.if not,switch off camera and very GENTLY try to push in lens,while camera is still shutting down.otherwise have it checked by expert.

Not too sure what that is, but first thing I would check is that you lens is set to its smallest aperture, such as f/22. Many times that err message means the lens is not closed down all the way. After closing the lens down the camera dials will set the aperture. Also, on many Nikon D type lens, not the G type, there is a small push pull button to lock the lens as it smallest opening.
YOU PROBABLY HAVE THE LOCK ON LOCK POSITION. OPEN THE DOOR, PULL THE OUTSIDE HANDLE OF THE DOOR UP AND WITH SCREW DRIVER PULL THE LOCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DOOR TILL UNLOCK POSITION, THEN CLOSE THE DOOR.
Many Chrysler vehicles won't let you lock your keys in. If locked from the inside, or locked before closed, the doors unlock upon closing. If you don't have a remote, you'll have to lock the doors with the key after you close them.
Cannon is notorious for their auto focus and automatic setting to be very discriminant. If you are to close to your subject while in these settings granted your strobe will fire and your flash may flip into position but the shutter just wont work. Cannon is trying to tell you you are too close. You need to back up. If you are trying to get that close up and don't have the proper lens that's all you are going to get. It is best to go long lens then go for your close up.
Same problem. The lens is stuck in the zoom position. When the camera is turned on, the lens moves a just afraction like it want to fully open or close, then the camera beeps and prompts with the "Lens Error" Restart Camera. Solutions?
You are correct that the switch locks the aperture. In order for your camera to function correctly in the auto-focus mode you must lock the aperture to the smallest opening (largest number such as f22). The switch has two positions. The position where the switch is lined up with the orange line is the locked position. When the lens functions properly and on the camera, the lens aperture is forced wide open by a pin on the camera body pushing a lever on the lens that opens the aperture. As part of the sequence when you push the shutter button, the camera releases its pressure on the spring-loaded lever on the lens, allowing the aperture to close to the setting that the "computer" has determined as correct. You will find this lever on the outside of the black ring that surrounds the rear lens element. With the lens removed, find the lever and make sure that with the lens set to the f22, sliding the lever counter-clockwise against the slight spring tension, the aperture opens wide and returns to f22 when released. If this is not the case, the problem is in the lens. If this works, then the problem is either in your camera body or in the alignment between the body and lens. If this does not get you on the right track, let me know what you find and we will proceed from there.
