I have a RUUD Achiever heat pump. Where does the filter go? I don't see a slot for it. I can't even tell what size filter it takes, since there is no defined slot.

It would be at the air handler portion of things (the unit inside) you might have to take off the lower door to access it it would be located at the bottom of the unit or somewhere in the duct work before that point look for spots that say airflow and will show an arrow--->

Just moved into a 40 year old house that has an RUUD model UGPH-07EAMGR furnace. Went to check the filter (which of course was loaded), and it was just sitting over the insertion slot. Suspect someone put...

The duct work on the return air can be made to accommodate any size of filter and it may not be the size the furnace takes. Some installers can cut a slot in the outside of the duct and put the filter there, bypassing the manufacturers method of mounting. I would measure the slot or mounting and see what comes close.

Replacement of filter on Ruud Achiever series heat pump/AC

You must first remove the blower compartment panel. The filter should be in there. However, since this unit is in a crawl space you may have a return air filter grill. Look at your return grill. Does it have a filter? If not does it have latches so that you can open it? If so measure the opening and install a new filter there. I hope this helps. Please don't forget to give me a Fixya rating.

How do I change the filter in my Ruud Achiever series

I'd look in one of 2 areas.

1. often there is a central return in the house. This is the place where the air gets pulled back to the unit and is likely very close to your thermostat. Check for a filtered louvered grill there and see if your filter is located here. If so, you can access the filter by opening the filter frame with a screwdriver or even a coin.

2. Otherwise I would expect that your filter is on the return-air side of your air handler (where the blower is) Older models have the filter actually inside the air handler in the blower compartment. Newer models may have a small separate filter door. I'd look in these areas.

hope this helps
