Its best to evacuate the a/c but if you are careful you may be able to hook up your freon tank and lightly charge the system if it works cold just let it be and if when it is real hot it feels warm instead of cold you might add just a little more freon but be careful.

Go to autozone or similar and get a can of freon with a guage. Hook guage up set arrow to outside temp turn a/c on full and add freon to the right red mark.

SOURCE: the ac only blows warm air, have recharged it with freon but it only cools minutes before blowing warm again, could find no leaks

There are special cans of R-134A with dye in them for detecting leaks. Most leaks occur around the fittings near the compressor. Recharge the system with the leak detector can or R-134A. There are also cans of R-134A with an additive to stop leaks. I would use these products to either detect your leak or to stop it. Best of luck.

SOURCE: 97 Olds Aurora AC blowing warm air a day after recharging system

Several- The system should hold freon for years without leaking. There are pressure switches and they cut off the compressor with an undercharge and an overcharge. You need guages to measure the charge. There are testers the A/C shops have called "sniffers" which can detect a leak. If you have no leak then you need a technician to add or remove freon to get the concentration right. Or you need guages.

SOURCE: 1999 Nissan Altima GXE, AC is intermittently

check pressure it may have leaked out already, also pressure test will tell if compressor is bad or other leaks, u can put dye in system and look for leaks yourself availible in most part stores, look at front of vehicle and look at condesor and see if any obvious damage

SOURCE: 98 Mitsubishi 3000GT air conditioning does not blow cold

Could be a blockage. Get an air-con specialist to blow the lines out. Check for any leaks from the rubber pipes. The twisting nature of AC pipes in cars can perish and if you have heard a blow out (like a tire blowout) the air con might have blown through a pipe.

Any leaves trapped in the windshield/hood gutter?

2004 sebring air conditioner stops and starts

Low freon will cause the compressor to short cycle, when the compressor runs the pressure in the low line is pulled down and the low pressure switch turns it off. Not running the pressure builds up and turns it back on. In the old days there was no low pressure switch, with no freon to carry the oil the compressor was destroyed.

2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder, can't figure out why the heater blows cold air on the drivers side and warm air on the passenger side? A/C works great. I have flushed the heater core and it seems to flow...

There are a couple of possibilites. 1 Is your vehicle equipped with seperate climate controls for the driver and passenger, if so your warm/cold air motor door on the drivers side is malfunctioning. This is located under the dash.2 Your climate controls on your dash are not working properly. Hope this helps.

Heater blows cold air

I had the same problem with the heater only working when accellerating. Found the overflow tank pick up tube was kinked. This of course made my coolant level low. So when the cars hot the coolant would push into the overflow, but when the car cooled the kink would prevent it from flowing back to the radiator.
