I have a green light when the shuffle is plugged in, but when I disconnect no lights no power

My 2nd gen shuffle while connected to the dock and the dock to the computer lights up green. iTunes recognizes it and it will even sync. However, as soon as I eject it from a power source the lights go out and I can get no power. I have charged this thing for hours I know how to charge it. I have restored it, I have re-downloaded iTunes, quicktime, and I have done everything to get things back up on this thing but no luck. What gives?

I bought an Ipod shuffle 2nd generation yesterday, it charged all night and orange light was still blinking. Tried listening to songs and sometimes it would play but most times wouldn't. Took it back for exchange and same problem. Then I realized the problem is not with the USB plug or computer reoconizing ipod but in the docking itself. I applied pressure on the top side of docked Ipod and bottom of docking station and the computer recognized the Ipod. Release pressure and lose connection. The problem is that the docking station and earbuds do not connect with ipod and the fixes provided by apple doesn't address or fix this problem.

How do I re charge battery with electrical plug

To charge the battery using your computer:
Connect iPod shuffle to a high-power USB port on your computer using the included iPod shuffle Dock. The computer must be turned on and not in sleep mode (some models of Macintosh can charge iPod shuffle while in sleep mode). When the battery is charging, the status light on iPod shuffle is orange. When the battery is fully charged, the status light turns green.
If you don't see the status light, iPod shuffle might not be connected to a high-power USB port. Try another USB port on your computer.

To charge the battery using an iPod USB Power Adapter If you do not have then you have to buy the same from Apple Store) 1 Connect the AC plug adapter to the power adapter (they might already be connected). 2 Plug the USB connector of the iPod shuffle Dock into the power adapter. 3 Plug the power adapter into a working electrical outlet. 4 Put iPod shuffle in the dock. You can disconnect and use iPod shuffle before it is fully charged.

Green/Red Flashing - iPod shuffle 2nd Gen. & Orange Flashing

Aug 07, 2009 - OK, I found the answer...there was a problem with the updated Windows service pack. I had to uninstall all applications(even in recycle bin) of all previous service packs including the new service pack 3. Then, went to Windows update and reinstalled the service pack 3 only and after installation, my ipod came to life! It was beautiful....Must be a compliant problem with the packs...I don't know!

Ipod shuffle 2nd gen problem

Remember these five basic suggestions if you have a problem with iPod shuffle. Try
these steps one at a time until the problem is resolved. If one of the following doesn’t
help, read on for solutions to specific problems.
Reset iPod shuffle by turning it off, waiting five seconds, and then turning it back on
again.
Retry with a different USB port if you cannot see iPod shuffle in iTunes.
Restart your computer, and make sure you have the latest software updates
installed.
Reinstall iTunes software from the latest version on the web.

If the status light blinks orange when you press a button, the iPod shuffle buttons are
disabled. Press and hold Play/Pause (’) for about three seconds, until the status light
blinks green.
Connect iPod shuffle to a high-power USB port on your computer. Your iPod shuffle
battery may need to be recharged.
Turn iPod shuffle off, wait five seconds, and then turn it on again.
You may need to restore iPod shuffle software

Apple iPod shuffle MP3 (2nd generation)

It could be a few things.

1, The Charger is bad
2. The battery is completely dead
3. There is an internal malfunction that would require factory service.

While this may not help try plugging the charger into another computers USB port and dock it to see if anything happens.
