My cell phone seems to get really hot. It also doesn't look like it's not holding a charge
Bad battery or charger or damage to charger battery will get hot and may swell. Time for a new battery or as it swells it may break the main board or screen
As Pattianne Pascual above mentioned force stop any not using applications. Perhaps you are using as app that is high demand.....
Facebook and messenger are notorious high demand apps and often are the cause.
You can download an app called "android assisstant" it helps control and keep phone running smooth.
Once you force stop the apps, turn the screen brighteness down as well.
To ensure a good healthy charge go to your settings somewhere around the network settings you will find airplane mode. It stops all networking and messaging etc. Put your phone down and let it charge.
Just desable your google play service,it will help alot to save your battery and ram uses
You may have too many apps running.you can go to menu,settings,applications-to force stop as many as you can, or your phone may have the ability to force stop all running apps by pressing down & holding the home button.i also clear RAM as well).
