2002 dodge Dakota is backfiring what is the problem how can I fix the problem

Is the fuel pump working? Have someone crank for you and bang on bottom of fuel tank. If it starts replace pump if not check pump relay for power in and out

at the distbutor itself there is a part that is called the picup coil most of the times that is what goes bad.

distributor could be bad

try swapping injector out of #3 cylinder. See if problem moves to another cylinder.

the best way to set the distributer, is to have engine at top dead center. then replace distributer with rotor button pointing to #1 plug wire on cap. have a good day!!

it is the relay that supplies power to fuel pump relay coil etc.the computer controls it so if engine stalls all fuel and ign is shut down. mainly was created for safety in an accident

isnt there a sticker inside the engine bay somewhere?

no power to coil from electrical plug in check for a short in the plug on in the wiring

try replacing the engine position sensor, that should solve the problem. it happened to me I got a simple diagnostic computer for less than &60.00 and it gave me all the code for my trucks problem. my truck had a bunch of lights on in the dashboard, and with that diagnostic computer now they are all gone.
