The removing of the bolts to the valve cover isn't that crucial in what order you remove them and the torque is only around 25lbs max , if you mean the cylinder head follow this link and click on TORQUE TABLES

2003 Chevy tracker 2.0 in4 dohc valve cover gasket

With the rubber gasket , you shouldn't need to add any gasket sealant to hold it on. Make sure that the track for it on the valve cover and the surface it sits on, on top of the head are clean.

It is best to replace the grommets on that valve cover by putting them on the bolt first then into the valve cover. This model tends to have issue breaking/tearing the grommets. There should also be grommets for other things like the filler tube and breather tube.

As far as I have ever encountered, I know there is an order to put the bolts back in. I've never use a specific order myself. Most importantly in this model the bolts should be re-installed to 106 INCH pounds. Make sure the torque wrench is on INCH pounds not foot pounds.

What is the torque pattern on a 2005 valve cover

According to PTCruiser Links.com: " I have a Hayne's Manual that's for 2001 through 2003. It says to tighten all the valeve cover bolts to 40 inch pounds, initially. Then--when all are at that setting, tighten all of them to 80 inch pounds. Then when all are that tight, do the final tightening to 105 inch pounds. Sounds like a weird way to do it, but I bet it won't leak if you follow these directions ....

Before doing this, apply a "light" coating of RTV sealant onto the corners of number 1 and number 6 camshaft bearing caps (I guess some oil will leak if this isn't done). In other words, the back corners as you're facing the engine from the front of the car.

Tightening sequence: Do all the middle ones first, starting with the bolt in the middle of the valve cover, then the one just above it, then the one just below it. Then do the same sequence for the left three bolts. Then do the same sequence for the right three bolts.

Then get a Hayne's manual, because it may not be perfect, but it shows a lot of torque settings and other stuff you will need in the future.

I don't wrench all that often anymore, so I use a torque wrench. My bad!

How do I replace the valve cover gasket on a 2002 Saturn L200, 2.2 engine?

Disconnect the camshaft cover grounding strap.Right side of engine.
Remove ignition module, 4 bolts , and disconnect the electrical connection to it. Pull straight up to remove.
Remove 4 spark plugs.
Remove the coolant pipe bracket.
Remove the fuel line bracket.
Remove the 12 bolts holding down the cover, then pry up around the edges GENTLY to remove. You might want to use a rubber mallet at this stage, just don't overdo hitting it, its cast aluminum..
The gasket around the edge and around the spark plug holes don't need sealant, the new design does away with this.
Now would be a good time to check the wear on the Teflon timing chain shield between the camshaft sprockets.
Installation is in reverse order.
Camshaft cover bolts : Tighten to 89 INCH pounds.
Camshaft Ground Strap Bolt : 89 INCH pounds.
Spark Plugs : 15 FOOT pounds.
Ignition coil to camshaft cover bolts : 71 INCH pounds.
Coolant pipe AND Fuel line bracket bolts: 89 INCH pounds.
Good luck.

Oil Leak Valve Cover

If it is leaking around the valve cover then that is the problem. Just remove the bolts from the valve cover in a cross pattern (ex. back right - front left and go back and foward and work till you make it to the middle. Go purcahse a valve gasket for both right and left and replace them. Tighten in the same cross pattern and be careful no to pinch the gasket.
