Hi Walter, The fact that the unit is freezing when turned fully down suggests to me that you need a new thermostat as this is the switch that controls the temperature.

Have haier HWRO5XCM air conditioner. Outside temp is 75 degrees and I have set on 76. Freezes up and spits ices and water. Help

Clean indoor filter , and coils in unit (you must remove from window and remove top from unit to expose coil, After cleaning coils prop up unit so it slopes to rear and spray back and forth at bottom of front coil until drain is clear . Never turn unit upside down , and do not get water inside of fan motor . Also clean evaporator blower wheel . With unit clean and drained out place in direct sunlight for at least 2 hours to completely dry before replacing top and reinstalling in window , or just drain out , reinstall and leave unit unplugged for at least 24 hours to dry before testing . If unit is clean and still icing , check to see if thermostat works (place object in front of unit to direct cold air from top of unit onto thermostat temperature sensor and compressor should cycle off, if not replace thermostat . If unit still ices you will need a pro to repair sealed system of unit or simply buy a new one .
Thanks,
Alex

Kenmore side by side is not cooling , and the coil at the back is freezing

Hi.

When the fridge is not cooling , and the coil at the back is freezing, the problem is always the defrost system.

The defrost system function is to prevent the condenser coils from freezing.

When the condenser coil is frozen, the unit will not cool down anymore, as heath connot be pumped out of the fridge and freezer.

The defrost system comprises of a defrost thermostat, a fan, and an heating element, and it is located behind the freezer firewall.

In the example below, taken from my daily Fixya solutions I will use a Kenmore side by side 363.50227000.

If your model is different, then you will need to order parts for your model, do not use the parts below. To find parts , try Sears, or see: Where do I find parts and diagrams for my...

Also diagram and parts location may differ.

Here a diagram, click on the picture to enlarge:

Here parts to be tested, click on the link to purchase part:

Defrost thermostat (part 240 on diag)

Is tested removing it from the unit, after disconnecting power firts. Test is done using a multimeter set at Rx1 (Ohms).
Ifthe part is good the multimeter will read low or zero impedance at roomtemperature, if thermostat is bad, it will stay open (infinity).

Heater (part 230)

Itis tested reading Ohms , similarly to thermostat, if the heater hascontinuity, then it is good, if circuit is open, it must be replaced.

evap fan asm (Part 613)
It is tested energizing the motor, and observing if it is working.

Thesystem can also be tested by jumping the defrost thermostat, and observing if the element is heating up and the fan working.

for safety reasons, all testing and repair must be done by a trained person.

Before attempting repair, better contacting Kenmore after sale service at the number listed on your owners Use and Care manual.

Refrigerator freezing up

I was told by Sears to turn my thermostat to the refrigerator side down in the summer months to eliminate the freeze up. Seems that opening the door more often in summer makes it think it needs to dool more.

Why is the unit freezing? It is a TRUE TSSU-60-16.

Turn down the temp and move produce item closer to the front. The air exits the evaporator at around 28 degrees. Possible you need a thermostat.

Coils are freezing in the room air conditioner

Hello my name is Heath it will be my pleasure to assist you. First thing to do is turn the unit off and check the filter then if the filter is okay check to see if the blower comes on when you put the fan switch on the thermostat from auto to on. If the blower isn't coming on then there could be a problem with the blower motor. If the motor is running then turn the system to cool and turn the setting down to where the air should be on. Then check the outside unit and be sure the outside unit is running if the outside unit is not running go to the house panel box and check the breaker to see if any of them are tripped or off. If there off turn them on and check the outside unit again. If all is running and you get no air flow through the vents then the coil could be frozen. If the unit is frozen turn the thermostat to off and leave the indoor blower on by leaving the fan switch in the on position for a couple hours till it thaws. If the unit froze up then there could be a problem with the a/c system most likely low on refrigerant as a result of a leak. I would have it leak tested and repaired if this is the case.

My refridgerator freezes everything whats wrong

Thermostat. You should hear the unit shut down when you turn it up toward warmer if not then you may have a bad thermostat. now that said if you are saying freezes like eccesive ice buildup this is usualy due to a leaking door seal allowing moisture to get in and freeze at the freezer area

It has been suggested to us we change out the thermostat.Good idea considering if the ifs its reading colder than actually appears on readout the unit will freeze up. The unit is working right at this moment, but, when we change thermostats we will let you know the outcome.
