did bias plug come with amp or is this aftermarket?

bias knobs are manufacturer specific. do not assume 1 bias control will work with different amps.

(even though the RJ11 jack is similar, they are wired differently)

your lucky your amps internal circuitry is detecting the short your introducing.

Mono amps have single power in so if it is stereo then it should have two.

the bass nob must have worn out, that's why it cannot stay firm when you press it in.

Get something tiny like a pin, press the bass knob in, and at the same time fix in the tiny object by the side of the knob, to hold the bass knob firm, so that it will not pop out when you let go off it.

yes you have a internal fault of the amp. the circuit that puts it into safe mode is bad and or a channel or power supply and that is a very small chip on the board know as a op amp. needs to be repaired.

i don't think you'll have any problems if the hook up will fit. i myself have a lighting audio bass knob hooked up to a jensen amp and haven't had any problems from that
