CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive I have an HP laptop with a Toshiba CD-RW/DVD-ROM SD-R2512 drive installed. I put a DVD to play for my grandson and the sound played but the video part just displayed a green screen with letters scrolling on it. It did it with like three DVDs. I tried to resolve the problem by changing the 32-bit to 16-bit. The movie played. Somethng happened, what was it? Everytime a movie is done I have to change back to the 32-bit so the icons don't look pixelated. I never had a problem with the 32-bit prior to this.

I have a travelmate laptop model 2430. The operating system is windows xp home edition. It has a cdrw and dvd player that doesn't work properly. It light shows on the unit and i can here the motor running. But it doesn't show up in my device manager or on my computer. I have a recovery disk but that still doesn't work or fix the problem, even after I had re-installing my whole operating system. Could you please tell me how can I fix this problem?

Your problem sounds like you dont have the correct Codecs to be playing that video format....You'll need to verify but I would guess that your trying to play a "DivX" or "XviD" format, in which case you will need to download something called Koepis XviD Codec pack or XP Codec Pack and afterwards, restart your computer and try again and it should play just fine.

What DVD playback program are you using? Intervideo WinDVD is the best for-pay one, but you might look into Media Player Classic and VLC Media Player. Also, search google for K-Lite Mega Codec Pack and install it. It has the codecs required to play most movie formats. This could just be an issue of a broken codec. I would also recommend updating your video drivers (the screen that changes the color bit depth should tell you what kind of video adapter your laptop has; go to the manufacturer's website and get the latest driver).

I have a toshiba satellite it will not play any audio sound and when you go on the volume it says it as toshiba dvd-rom sd r2412 and all i want is sound on my laptop can you help me please

Do you have sound at all, or just not when you play a CD or video DVD?
Fist thing to check is if your audio drivers are installed and working properly.
If necessary, find and install the right sound driver for the computer.
There are some more things to try to fix sound in Windows, hope that helps.

Toshiba SD-R2312 Upgrade to DVD Writer

If your current device is CD-RW/DVD-ROM, then any CD-RW/DVD-RW device that you can purchase will _physically_ replace and will fit into the space occupied by your current device.

CD/DVD drive problem

See if the Drive Reads in My Computer. See if you can see the contents of the CD. Try to run or play the data.

If not... you may need to uninstall the CD driver and let it reload again. The way to do that is to Rt Click My Computer | Letf Click Properties | go to Device Manager | go to and open DVD - CD Rom Drive Folder | Rt Click the Device and unistall. Total Shut Down Reboot after taken out the Drive in the system. Start up and let it completely finish. Shut down again... restart with drive back in. Hopfully it will redetect and work.

If not again... Bad Drive ?

I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop with a SD-R2512 DVD drive that the unit will not recognize. It sees it in device manager and says that the drive is missing...code 39. I tried to delete it in that...

Seems like the DVD drive went bad.
My advice is try another DVD drive and install it on the same laptop. just to make sure the laptop is ok.

Please don;t forget to rate is this answer helps you in some way

Toshiba sd-r2002

I'm very late to your question, but the problem is that this drive doesn't burn DVDs (i.e., it was not designed to do that). It's a CD-RW, DVD-ROM (read only).
