Inside driver's door handle won't open door. Over the past week it seemed like the door didn't open until the handle was pulled further and further back as time went on. Now it is just"floppy" and won't open door at all. Do I have to remove the door panel and disconnect wires and all kinds of stuff or is there an easier way to repair/replace the handle?

I have a 99 Yukon. Had the same problem. I took the door panel off and discovered that the door handle has a spring attached that appeared to degrade. Bottom line is I changed the entire handle, not too expensive, and it now works fine.

You will have to remove the door panel. It is likely the metal rod inside from latch to handle is jarred or fell off. The panel will pry off if you remove all the screws in the door panel and remove lock and window controls.

I have a 1998 Ford Explorer Limited. The passenger door electric lock is freezing and the door will not open. Once unlocked it works fine. Has had actuator replaced and isn’t the problem. Key won’t open it...

Just replaced all outer handles and 2 interior handles and a door latch on a sport track. The biggest problem with the locks were that they needed to be lubed. Take a spray like wd-40 and spray the latches. If the door panels are still off then it is easier. Also spray the window sliders to have them work easier. All the actuators work off the same signal. The one that does not work just may need a little lube.

97 Mercury Mountaineer driver side door won't open. Outside handle flops around; inside handle won't open door

Try a slim jim first, down the side of the window. Or AAA or locksmith. If no luck, remove the seat first. Find the screws and bolts around the door handle and arm rest. Most Ford's have screws around the outer side of the panel. I don't believe your's does. The panel lifts or pops off. Once the panel is off, you can reach down and open the door. Just a note. I have done some to where the panel came out in pieces.

2006 buick lucerne back doors won't open

My friend just had this problem and he reached in and pulled the inside door handle back as far as it would go, and then let it go, allowing it to 'snap' back. For some reason this fixed it. We have no idea why. By doing this on one door, both rear door locks freed up and the rear locks are now working. Before, both rear locks were stuck and you could not open the doors from the inside nor the outside. Not sure why it works, but maybe it will work for you!

Outside handle on 1997 Toyota Avalon will not open door

Since you can get the door open, half the battle is already won. Yes, open the door, pull the interior door panel and take a look around. Watch inside with a flashlight (towards the rear of the door) as you roll the window down to see if you can see what it's snagged on.

I have a 97 honda accord and the driver side door wont open from the inside

Ah!! I had this problem with my 93 toyota carolla.

Pull the handle off - you will see a metal units that connects from the handle to the metal bar inside the door - (do not have to take door panel off for this; should not have to).

The back door on the driver side is set up the exact same way (should be) . take the handle off this door and take the plastic unit off it and use it for the driver door until you can get a new one - or just get a new one for the driver door.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

The inside door handle does not open the door. I can open it from the outside but not the inside.

I just fell into the same situation. My interior driver's door handle just does nothing all of a sudden. I went on the Mazda Forum website and came away with at least a temporary fix.
The lock switch can be used to open the door from the inside by pushing it the opposite way it's pushed when locking the door. In other words, the rear portion of the lock switch needs to be depressed and the front portion needs to be pulled away from the door. It may be difficult to do with the trim piece around the lock still on. The trim piece can be removed by pulling the small plastic cap away from the base (it's on a plastic hinge) off and unscrewing the holding screw underneath it. Pull the handle away from the door and the trim piece will come right off.
I'm using that as a temporary solution now until I get a new/used door assembly.
Hope that helps.

Drivers side door on my jeep cherokee will not open from inside

most likely the inner door handle has a broken hooking tab for the rod to the latch plate.most door panels are held in place with a few screws around the door pull handle and arm rest than most of the sides and bottom of the door panel are held by plastic snap clips. with a large straight blade screw driver start at a corner of the door panel , slide the blade of the screw driver under the edge of the panel and lightly pry out untill you lossen up one of the clips than slide along the screw driver to the next clip , keep going till the panel is lossened up.
